The Oside riders finally got their sht together and got a helmet cam up and running. Last weekend was the first attempt at getting everything boxed up and trying to get any useable footage.

All in all, it wasn't a wonderful first weekend. On Day 1, the camera was positioned realllly crooked, and almost everything was out of frame. Not to mention, I didn't have much of a concept of keeping my head still. On Day 2, the camera fogged over. :frown:

Anyhow, I'm about a 1/4 of the way done with this thing. I've been teaching myself this editing software and learning various techniques along the way, so things tend to take me a while. I've spent the last few days working on trying to make some TERRIBLE footage useable, and salvage this first attempt.

This video is NOT done....I was just too anxious to show people something. Many cuts will be added/changed in the final revision.

Here it is: Newest Oceanside Video Teaser - Quicktime 7 Required

Very nice work as always guys. I like the video. It kind of had a Blair Witch feel to it. Added it to my jetskier79 folder of vids!

You just have to see the skit to understand it. Christopher Walkin gets a fever and the only cure is more cowbell.

I get it - my point was you are a trip with your cowbell obsession! (I actually have the skit saved on my computer.)

I love the blaster barrel roll while wearing the helmet cam and Ross' roll four feet from the cam  . You are going to have some seriously sick videos this year.

Can you post that sucka or is to big? Then everyone will know what the hell I'm talkin' about:biggrin: ( I know most pepes already know)

I just thought it was the funniest skit in like 7 years of watching SNL. So I rolled with it as my avatar.

i had the same problem with not seeing the vid until i went and updated my quicktime through the apple website, now all of the o'side vids play fine for me...im sure there is some cache-clearing needed to but i'm not the expert there soooo/experts chime in anytime lol...

mmmmmmmmmmm...helmet cam footage is the goods, some of those shots were good, don't be too hard on yourself! even some of the fogged out ones were cool for a different look...i noticed some shots went b&w, did you add that while editing or was it native to the shots?

man, keep going, the vids look killer...:Banane01: :Banane01:

It's 60meg. I'm not really sure of the legal ramifications of hosting it. If you have something in mind, pm me. It would definitely do your whole cowbell thing justice!

I have not had a problem with any of these oside videos since I downloaded the latest quicktime. I also right-click, "save link as..." and watch directly from my computer instead of trying to stream it.

sorry guys, didn't put to much time into exporting this one, as it's only a sneak preview. Multiple formats will be available when it's finished. This video is about 1 minute long, and I've got a target time of right around 4 minutes.

If you are having trouble viewing it, you really should go download the newest version of quicktime. It's free, and the quality to filesize of quicktime compression is far superior to wmv encoding. There are two main reasons everything I release is encoded with quicktime.

-I edit on a mac, quicktime compression is the default compression
-A .mov file looks exactly the same on a PC or a Mac. (*explanation below)

Oh this helmet cam is going to turn out some A-MAZ-ING shots. As we get in tune with filming and riding for the camera, it's gonna get pretty damn cool. The fogged out ones I put in were the best of the bunch. The B&W shots were added in post to help with the VERY VERY foggy images.

Explanation of .mov vs. wmv - Windows media player on a mac is a pile of steaming poop. Videos are opened as an arbatrary size regardless of encoding. Streams hang mid-download. And overall perfomance is terrible. Encoding with quicktime ensures I can deliver content with greater confidence that it's being displayed the way I meant for it to be displayed.

I could just as easily encode the video using older codecs so older versions of quicktime will open the files, but the truth is that the newer codecs have FAR superier compression methods, which result in a much better finished product.
