SX/SXi/SXi Pro snugging pole possible on a kawi?

I rode a friends SJ this summer that had a tighter pole bolt and liked the way it rides and the fact you can tow it without having to secure the pole and also the fact it would stand in almost any position without falling. I took my bracket out the other day and tightened the crap out of it but it made no effect on movement. Do I need to add shims inside it or something? I'll be ordering a new spring this winter and wanted to do this while I'm in there. Thanks

Just remove the plastic washers and use metal ones. Also the one side of the bracket has threads that the bolt threads in. Drill that out and then tighten down that beach.

thanks guys, I plan on putting on a better spring but I also wanted to give it some more tension on the pivot itself to keep it from bouncing while towing. I guess im just getting lazy but I dont like strapping it down after riding and I hate that cluck noise it makes when it slams down after a bail. :banghead: I will deff. try the washers, my plastic ones have some play anyways.:)

no prob. if you use 1 bolt it pinches the 2 pole mounting flanges together, and the more the bushings wear out, the more you tighteb and squeeze the flanges together

No pole spring will hold the pole exactly where you want it throughout the range of motion of the pole. 2 bolts will squeeze down as much force as just using the oem. Just drill it out and replace the plastic washers with metal ones and your good. If you use the plastic washers it will never be like the yamaha your buddy has.

Thats exactly what I was thinking, I really dont think I even need a tighter spring after I tighten up the bolts. It depends on how out of control my blowsion order gets this month.

I took a quick look at the pole bracket, I get the drilling out the threads part but dont understand removing the plastic washers since they act as a shim in the pole as well. Should I cut the shim portion off the washer and then put a metal washer on it? and will a metal washer destroy the pole during movement or is it sturdy enough to work?
