Custom/Hybrid So I am getting a Superfreak Titan….

I recently put a deposit down with Thrust for a -4 Titan hull (w/ “All-around” layup). The lead time is 4-6 weeks so I should hopefully receive it next month. I went with the carbon flatwater hood and am having Thrust install the turf. I will be transferring over the guts from my 1991 701 SN. It’s nothing crazy…701, ADA head, B pipe limited, 9/15 Hooker, stock electronics/pump/everything else. What else should I get to make this transplant easier? Anything I should ask Thrust to do before it gets shipped to me? I’ve read some people installing pads into the footholds to make them tighter, others having inserts installed so that it is easier to install a stock tank/e-box/etc, special brackets.... I will be running a UMI -2 pole with an Xmetal steering system (not sure which pole bracket to run yet). This is the first big project that I will be attempting on my own so any help or suggestions are welcome. Thanks.

I'm not 100% sure but I would think a freak would swap parts from a roundnose. So you will need to look into a RN midshaft, bigger exhaust tube and probably waterbox to cut down on weight(sn box is a tank!)

I also remember seeing that freaks needed the Ada midshaft spacer? Maybe the titans do not but might just want to search on that.

Sounds sick tho, congrats!

I know that a RN who make the swap easier. I'm ordering an RN midshaft. I had completely forgotten about the exhaust tube so thanks for reminding me. I already have an aluminum waterbox that came with the SN (no idea who manufactured it but it seems to work fine). I hadn't heard anything about the midshaft spacer but I'll check that out. Thanks

I've been riding FW for the past two years but once this build is done I want to start riding surf. I'm still a surf virgin. I mainly ride in Parker/Havasu right now but I'd like to start riding surf in the Orange County/LA area or start making trips down to Oceanside/San Diego.

Don't need a midshaft spacer but I would consider a size taller on the prop since your hull will be a lot lighter.

Stay with the 9/15. I have a ported motor and love my 9/15, I went down from a hooker 10/16. I also went from a square to a freak. Mine is a badass not a titan, but basically the same. glass hull, carbon hood. You will need to get a round nose midshaft and a big round nose or rad dudes exhaust house. Everything else swapped right over. Take your time and build it right the first time!

Sorry for the delay, gents. My plan was to build the ski back in August but I got delayed through a series of unfortunate events. Thrust took longer than expected to get me the hull and then I had to leave for a two month long business trip. So the hull is currently sitting in my garage, surrounded by a bunch of parts. I am getting depressed just thinking about it sitting there not being built. I am going to try to get it done in December. I have thought about just paying to have it assembled (and tuned). I live near Jet Works so I am going to shoot them an email and see what they charge.

I decided to go with a H20 Torrent 148mm setback pump. Fast Elements said that they have had good results with the 7/12 impeller and a similar set up as mine but I am just looking for opinions on which impeller to get. 7/12, 9/15/, 10/16, or 11/17. Looking for low end pump without too much cavitation. Freeride/Havasu rec ski. Thoughts?

@Big Kahuna The motor I already had. I bought it off a guy on here a few months ago but I haven't installed it in a ski yet. I'm waiting to hear back from J.R at Jetworks so hopefully he gets back to me soon and I'll see what they say. Thanks

the umi pole is going to be really short on that hull and it isnt designed to run breather tubes. might want to look into a new blowsion pole or rrp. also give art at jetworks a call and have him blackjack your 38s and get them tuned in for your motor setup. it will save you a huge headache. when your ready hit me up and we can go shred oside!
