:banghead::banghead: Ignoring the problem (and starting the motor) won't make it go away. But it usually makes it worse. Fail.

I would still pull the head and clean it up.

Correct me if im wrong, but if a piece of the soldier stuck to the head and started glowing from heat, couldn't it act like a diesel? The red hot solder would be like an uncontrollable spark plug....seems like that could lead to pre-ignition.

I always say do it right the first time. Im assuming this is a customers ski since I don't think you own any sitdowns....would you want someone doing that to your own ski...and charging you for it?

Well, a glowing anything is still an ignition source so if it's in the right place in the chamber I bet it could instantly kill the engine.

I did not really start it. I let it go for the night. When I got home from work and had calmed down from last night I noticed the the head was not bad to get off at all. Its out and it runs great (on the trailer). never did do the squish test though now that I think about it...

I was trying to get someone to say it would be ok but that didnt happen so... I had to get it out! It wasnt a big deal, just 24 bolts to retouque and the exhaust mounts. I loosened the exhaust clamps too but not sure that I needed to.

Solder in the engine is ok , all the big name engine builders use it as a lead substitute, it won't hurt anything ,there you happy now?
