So this is what the X has come down to

I've been don't a lot of lurking reading for my upcoming build gathering input and it seems this pic (see below) is what the X has exactly come down to
All internet forums are like this, they always have been and always will be. People spend about three seconds forming an opinion and then spent the rest of their lives defending it. It is a lot better now than before the internet, when we had to rely on a shop or magazine to get information. It is sad that so many choose to spew crap instead of leveraging the resource in a productive way.

IMO, part of internet drama on here is because members here actually KNOW and ride with each other or maybe even met at a ride at some point. Those circles browse x-h2o together, favor similar ski builders/brands/parts and post on the same threads. Because of that, the way a person articulate's a joke, an opinion, sarcastic comment written in a short post online doesn't get interpreted correctly unless you know the personality of the person making the post. Some one outside the circle reads it, takes offense and starts an argument and now 2+ circles of friends are in a x-h2o war against each other.

Seeing as the diesel thread has been mentioned a few times I'll give my 2 cents about that since I started it... I honestly never meant to instigate any drama. I was looking for opinions, advice about the different motors and to learn a little bit about them in general. I was naive and had NO CLUE that people were that passionate about it. I thought since most members here are mechanically inclined (I am not) it would be safe to ask. I would look like an idiot posting on a diesel forum and probably get ignored so I posted my question in the off-topic area where people I KNOW would chime in and I would value their opinion more. The people I don't KNOW that are starting drama I just ignore.

This is so true.

I've been on internet forums for years with various hobbies. There's good advice, there's bad advice, in between and trash talking. I think I have learned to spot the bad and move on ASAP. I actually proofread my posts once or twice before posting really just to make sure I don't give bad advice or mislead someone.. If something I say is opinionated or "in my experience" I make sure to state that.

There were a couple guys the got butt hurt, but oh well. :(. I know me and Jordan screw with each other and did hard in the diesel thread. I wondered if anyone thought we were serious.

That's where problems can start because people don't know you're buddies and think acting that way is normal on here when it may not be.

The trolls are reproducing and multiplying quickly. We choose what threads to read and what to ignore but when we come on here to browse through and see new builds, new products, new product issues, etc but always see the same trolls causing drama (which can be entertaining) you end up feeling like you wasted your time and gained nothing from reading such threads. Next time you consider signing onto the X to browse you end up doing something more productive. I've definitely done less posting and less browsing because of it. It is what it is, it's the internet. I also don't need to learn as much as I did a few years ago and sometimes trying to be helpful to others starts a pissing contest of opinions. Still a great site but I think a lot of PWCToday drama has migrated here. Seems like a lot of older knowledgable people stay off the site to avoid drama, I know a few older (original) people who kinda lay low now and browse more than post

that's kinda of upsetting, The X should be for helping each other out, not hating because someone has a questions. I typically don't care for all the drama (although I partook in some recently) but like KTM said sometimes it is entertaining to read like a certain porting thread, I killed my phone battery that day.

It's entertaining for the most part, i do agree but theirs a time and place for it . Not when someone's asking for advice , not on someone's hull build or forsale thread . That's why they made the negative feed back thread

Just my opinion...

@crazy4sand should have just laid low my dude and kept ur opinion to urself like you said No need for the thread we all know what the x has come down too this wont change anything the x will never be the same. Just saying.

Honestly I read more and post less online. Great wealth of info if you look around here. I needed some info on my Lightweight and found a full thread a few years old with everything I needed.

What canes me is when you have one or two members on an online forum constantly starting threads asking for stuff and not giving anything back.

But is that much different than someone who comes here and gets all the info they want from an old thread and never posts/contributes anything of their own? Forums rely on participation to thrive.

Usually if you're posting for help and advice then you are seeking knowledge and aren't in a position to teach people. I'd rather that person not claim to know everything. There's enough misleading advice on here as it is. Don't ask the non experienced people to post "facts" let them learn first. There's nothing wrong with being a humble newbie and coming here to ask questions

I hear you. No means implying low pro forum cruising. You should give something back. Post quality or donate...
