There is something to be learned here. Not sure what yet, but I do aggree with the concept of unburned fuel in the water box/exh backfiring. I still think I am having the issue with the Enhancer and stock CDI, just not as bad and only intermitently. There is something going on but I wont know for a while.

something I need to check also Crab

put an msd in that thing and forget about it..........

ive never seen more electrical problems on the beach than people running these ignitions....Personally I have seen at least 3 boats (not including shawn) with open Eboxes at the launch spot, and guess what they all had in common?

all have been replaced with MSD's and not a single issue since then with ANY of them

I seem to recall that the one-way should be venting pressure from the tank if it exceeds 5psi.

I was always told the same, that the valve is designed to allow air into the tank, but at a certain point, it will allow fumes to vent out. Not sure on the actual pressure that causes this, but it was just a thought. I am not 100% sure of this.

Ruined a starter splines, and stripped the bendix also when it backfired the last time installing an msd.

Crab, so wait a second here. What are you stating exactly when you ruined a starter and stripped a bendix. The MSD was installed at the time, or???

I ruined a starter and bendix on backfire also, both brand new with new bushings and new Cold Fusion cover.

Defton56 brought over an enhancer for me to try, hooked it up and it would only spark when you let off the button, then BANG! Black soot all over some crap and a horrible grinding sound....starter and bendix were toast. Pulse coil must have been going out for a while as I had intermittent spark issues all season, fouling plugs. Did the ohm test and it was iinfinity, put a good one in there and sounds better than ever, have yet to water test. (61x stator and flywheel)

Steve dont take this the wrong way. But the battery, every wire in the ski, the starter, stator, oem flywheel, whole ebox ect, EPIC, coil, EVERYTHING electrical was brand new OEM in May of this year. I have never had another ski (with an MSD or OEM CDI) try to start backwards...ever. This ski has done it since the first few few rides. That fact that your saying its 100% not the EPIC is kind of extreme. Chris from ATP has contacted me and suggested my EPIC might need a software flash. That sounds reasonable, and I will try that if I decide to keep the epic. I swapped batteries between my two boats a few times unintentionally when they go on the charger, my old RN with the MSD has never backfired or tried starting running backwards.

shawn i never take thing the wrong way..... and i am extreme .... :smoker:

i dont normally comment on these "issues" was hoping to shed light on what the problem may be as ive seen many people have an issue... blame the epic.. people pm them telling them its the epic .. and it wasnt

ive seen, bad carb tunning, bad coil, sugar in gas (yep.... but was never followed up and the epic was blamed)

most guys who run the epic will testify that its almost like adding a second b-pipe

It is more fair to say that the EPIC is not causing the problem but rather highlighting ones that already exists.

boyer probably said it better than me......

glad chris has offered the re-flash, hopefully with the new battery you will be able to continue enjoying the epic

ScottS and myself found some nice little plastic caps that fit over the programming lead of the EPIC and have had them on since brand new. Scott has had, and is still having all the same problems as you. The only component on his ski that he has not changed is the rectifier and that is next on the hit list.

All his problems go away when he plugs up the oem or msd cdi as well.

It is more fair to say that the EPIC is not causing the problem but rather highlighting ones that already exists.

Not sure if its an isolated experience or not but be sure to inspect your wrist pin bearings a little closer after all the kickbacks.

I'd sacrifice a bit of power knowing I didnt have to worry about front cover guts and backfiring.....if the MSD is more "forgiving" to glitches in the system than its likely the better choice for a machine that gets beat to hell and submersed in water

I'm moved by DASA power!
When I called and asked about my swollen box, they told me they would warranty mine, I rode all season on it and am planning on sending mine in when my ski comes apart after the last ride of the season.
