Solas 12-vane mag pump stator

I have a couple from 10 years ago that are the tight ones. I used a C3 bearing and used an installation tool. They are still running after 10 years!. This convinces me that everyone who had problems damaged the bearing during installation. Most of these guys won't do basic maintenance, I can just imagine them trying to press a relatively fragile bearing.

I did the heat up and drop in method with the bearings pre-loaded onto the driveshaft (which also used heat and cooling to avoid any requirement of using a press). It worked perfect, no extra effort was needed outside of gravity.

Mute if you don't like music on your videos:

Did they fix the bearing area issue or do they still need to be fixed?
I just sold a shaft to the kid that I bought the green hurricane from. I put the shaft in his Solas pump .2 slams on the shaft and even the front bearing stayed on the shaft when it came out. A couple slams on the threaded end and it all slid right back together. Zero tools needed lol
I'd say they were definitely clearance looser so as not to burn up bearings.

I have mine about done. Excited to go give it a try tomorrow!

Before there was a lot of prop spacing. On the new pump the hub spacing is perfect without a spacer.
