Solas vs skat vs hooker impeller

Hey guys I've got a pretty much stock ski(did the stock pipe mod, will be doing some minor port cleanup and polishing, possibly a high compression head) and want to throw in a better impeller. From what I've found the skat 8/16 is pretty much the go to, the Solas super camber 13/18 is sluggish on the low end, and I haven't found anything on a specific hooker. Is this all correct? Is there a hooker impeller that would be even better suited?

That’s like asking Chevy, Ford, or dodge lol
Yea..i kind of figured, but I can't seem to find anyone saying anything about a particular pitch hooker that is best for a mostly stock ski. I'm leaning toward the skat, but the hooker is supposed to be a great prop..

On my SJ I went from a Solas 13/17 Setback(which was a nice improvement over stock) to a Hooker 9/15, and the Hooker has much better hookup and low end grunt. Not sure if that will translate to a 650/X2, but just some input for you. You should send Dave at Impros the specs on your ski and have him choose a Hooker for you.

That's not a bad idea. I hear so much good about the hooker and think it's the best option. Just not sure which

I just sent a message to impros, will see what they return. The superjet has gobs more bottom end though doesn't it?

It looks like the 9/15 is the smallest without going to a custom pitch. Waiting to hear back on what they say or if anyone else can weigh in on this

Has anyone had any luck with a skat 13/16 for a stock 650. I thought I read somewhere it was similar to a straight 15.5 but repitched a little and over lapping blades. For the original poster I went from a 10/16 to a 9/15 on my blaster and noticed a slight bottom end improvement it could just be in my head though. I did loose a few mph on the top end though. I know Dave told you a 8/14 but if your doing more mods in the future or a 750 swap maybe consider the 9/15.

What mods are out there for the 650? Aside from a head, sbn44 and exhaust? I'd have to go to porting and internal mods right? How much of a difference would the slightly taller prop make?

I was thinking more of the lines of if you swap a 750 in the future. I’m not sure how much a flywheel will help on those. Even a factory pipe compared to a oem modified one. My only thinking was a 9/15 in my opinion is fine for what you have with room to grow a 8/14 probably better with what you have but not as much room to grow.

Oh lightened flywheel. Forgot about that. I'm not sure Ill swap any time soon.. Impellers aren't terribly expensive either so its not a huge worry if I have to upgrade in the future.

Did you change anything else at that time? Bored nozzle? Cone?

Pretty expensive if you have a bunch of useless ones laying around that sucked!

My 13/16-3mm with bored nozzle and stock cones give me 49MPH and gobs of arm stretching wave climbing perfection.

I am afraid to switch.
