Solenoid sticking.

Well the starter got stuck on, thanks to the X I fixed that (just a stuck solenoid, maybe 1lbs of pressure got it unstuck). Well got the ebox apart and low and behold full of corrosion. Obviously the same reason the solenoid stuck.

What are the chances the solenoid will stick again assuming no more water is introduced?

I would say the chances are rather high. If you have that much water and corrosion in there, there's a good chance that the solenoid is corroded too. It's a mechanical device, so corrosion will make it stick. Sounds like you need a new solenoid and to figure out how that water is getting in there.

Well that sounds pretty definitive. No clue about the water, just recently picked it up so its from the PO.

Putting it back together I'll look into getting a new gasket along with probably siliconing it.

Thanks guys!

Make sure everything is nice and clean around the sealing lip too - water doesn't need much of a gap to get in.

And a thin layer of grease always helps(just be sure the seal does NOT push out w/bolting the 2 halves together).
