Some of them Krash hulls in the surf I reckon

I was always under the impression the surfing and waveriding it what you make it? I see hundreds of little kids popping air's and doing 360's but can't ride fluently for :):):):)...yet, they are considered pro's and at the top of thier game. Things change, and people have different perceptions of what waveridig may be. I like to do open face carves and smooth turns/slashes, thats what I consider waveriding...not reo's (although I like them too)

All things aside, I don't actually own a Krash hull, but I have ridden a few. Maybe Nick is not as fluent as you'd like, but I can tell you that with minimal effort, these hulls turn on a dime. You can set them up to either turn hard, or have a swallow tail kind of feel. I always felt I wanted my ski to handle like a surfboard, but I guess I really just wanted to have a hull capable of doing a cutback on an open face wave. These hulls will do it. Exactly like a surfboard? No, but the closest yet. I still ride an oem Superjet hull, but thats me, it's what I like. I guess what I'm saying is that given the feedback from people want, Nick has come up with something that covers all bases.

I know you probably wouldn't ride one wydopen, but I would be interested to see what you thought of it coming from a surfing background as I did. I'm the most critical person I know of when it comes to ski handling, but I really do like the way these things ride.

Here's one I finihsed last night for a customer...

i was being sarcastic regarding the one handed remark..your not going to impress me with circus tricks...try keeping your elbows out and bending your knees when you surfride...you cant fake waveriding but give it your best shot!..you can do all the silly flip tricks on a superjet and that lunch tray isnt going to do you any favors in the handling department..if people spent a 1/16th of the time they spend trying to make their boat ride different instead of learning to ride whats been the standard for 21years this sport wouldnt be equivalent to watching a monkey hump a football..if u cant waveride better than scott watkins did on a near bone stock 550 then its not your ski its the rider

ps your never going to be able to wave ride properly with your rear foot in that position...just a tech tip for ya

I kinda thought you were an alright bloke to judging by your fb profile i checked out a couple of pics of you surfing is that how you usually stand?? why are you getting so worked up over this, thanks for the tips ill be sure to take them on board. So is there any video of yourself so i can study up??

As a full fledged member of the Krash Army i must say that this new 2011 Jb1 hull of mine with all of the old 1997 SJ running gear has not only put a smile on my face but given me a new lease on jetski riding.
What i am blown away by is that the JB1 hull has an answer for everything i throw at it especially surf riding which i have not had interest or done since the late nineties. I Did not like Surf riding because i fell off a lot and it simply tired me out, with the JB1 this is not so. The JB1 turns unbelievably sharp and slashes waves with out burying the nose like my old Sj's did. At the moment i am hesitant to use it to its full potential as i am so used to falling of when i do re-entries and surfing. Next time i go out i am going to try to do stuff just so i can find its limitations as i defiantly not found them yet. The JB1 is especially light and if you had ridden my old XFT it was light. The JB1 is surprisingly balanced giving it a lighter feel even though the ski is a lot wider it still has the ability to carve turns with out to much sliding out . Stability is astonishing i find i don't have to fight the ski to stay on and at my age that gives me more time to ride without as many pitstops. The hood is super light and has the lip that extends down i side the engine bay making it hard to dislodge. I have a set of ripper fins to put on it and nick said " just wait and see the difference they make". In comparison to a Rickter and Trinity which i also found easy to ride, the JB1 turned harder a lot lot harder. If your in the Cronulla area see Cronulla crew & Co on the ozfreeride.com forum to hook up for a test drive. If you live in Australia and you want to support Australian Made products you cant go past buying a new JB1.

Well written butch. It is disappointing that some un educated people seem to jump at passing negative comments on a ski the (and top level rider) when they clearly have no idea what they are talking about, but there loss I guess. Prob no need to go on about the JB1 much more because as soon as people ride one it will prove itself. If anyone one from the states is ever in eastern Victoria over here in Aus they are welcome to come ride mine, I’m sure they will not be disappointed.

It sounds like we need one or two of these hulls in the states to be put to the test then! It sounds like a blast to ride and Australia is on my list of places to visit but it's not happening anytime soon unfortunately. I know some guys on the east coast would love to put it to the test.

Just calling it like i see it..a hull that falls over backwards when u land isn't going to do you any favors..if u are going to claim your ski or riding is revolutionary and will blow minds be prepared for differing opinions. Im not into the jumping stuff but with these super short hulls flips are being done even lower than with a superjet..If u were throwing down some smooth critical surfriding I'd the the first one to give u props..there is allot more to riding in the surf than doing a modified freestyle routine..

The overall ski handling and wave knowledge of the top riders has diminished greatly in the last 6 or 7 years...sorry to all the oz guys but with the exception of mark tearle I have seen zero quality waveriding come from down there..lots of big air and tricks but it's really hard for me at least personally to take your claims of mericle hulls that handle just like surfboards when the footage from your premier waveriding comps don't even include one turn or completed reentry..one of the best surfriders I know is a 50yr old man on a stock square nose (original starter of this thread)..the guy will literally have his 20 year old boat upside down in the pocket and then finish off with 4 or five more turns on the same wave..it just goes to show that it's the rider not the ski..for me maybe it's the fact that I was lucky enough to learn from some of the best wave riders in the world so my standards of what looks good might be different than others..but that dosnt change the fact that waveriding is becoming a lost art..

I'm serious about your rear foot position..if u want to hit sections when they are hollow u need to match the angle of the bottom of your ski with the lip, not to mention you will get wayy more pop on your reentries..if you are standing perpendicular to your ski you cant get your body off the side to be able to bring it back..watch a vid of Joe Kenny to see what I'm talking about..

I'd like to try that ski but I have can tell u from watching someone else ride it that it rides too flat because of the width to get it on a rail and lay down any power..that's my opinion if u don't like it I guess u can prove me wrong but your going to have to step up your game..like I said before people spend way too much time tryin to get their ski to compensate for their riding..

thats exactally how i feel about jetskiing...power, style and flow have gone to the wayside and are being replaced with one hit wonders and flip tricks...

even the new school surfers arnt going to make it on the tour without at least some power surfing in their arsenal...in jetskiing nobody knows the difference between doing a turn on a wave that hasnt boke yet and putting your intake grate over your head on a breaking section...

Wydopen....do you still surf with a Log? :dunno:
Things evolve....that is the nature of things.
Steve Jobs is dead BTW.

Benny

usually things evolve for the better... excellent ski handling skills of the past being replaced with boner airs and bar humps doesn't qualify as evolving in the right direction

LOL @ Boner airs. :lmao:

The right direction according to whom, though? :dunno:
A sport evolves as a group of its participants. If the majority push one direction, then that's the way it'll go. Who's to say what the "right" direction is?

See bennies pic on the right of his sig for an example of boner airs

Post a Joe Kenny vid and a vid from this last surfslam on a surfing and moto website (jetskiing being the mix between the two) and see which one people like better..

Just because people have been brainwashed by this website into thinking tail first landings and styleless turns are cool dosnt make it so

...and just because YOU say otherwise doesn't make it so either.....

and to be Honest with you, you are boring with all your technicalities....you are nuts!
Let me make a note and see if I can read them next time I am on my ski "attacking the lip".....:haha:

Matt is right on....this is about having fun and getting that smile in your face.
But you seem to have lost that part, and only concentrate on putting people down all the time.

You are a hater !

Why worry about it though?
The "sport" is what YOU make it for yourself. I don't ride because I want to look cool on a web site. I ride to the best of my abilities to enjoy myself.
If it looks kooky to someone, I really don't care that much. That's not what it is about for me.

My comments arnt directed at the average rec rider but at the guys claiming to be top "pros" and innovators inthe sport..I'm sure most of the lack of ski handling skills comes from the fact that back in the day the good freeriders were also good racers..you can't fake skill on the race course..maybe if the average rec riders wernt so easily impressed and held the "pros" to a higher standard they would have motivation to step up their game..now all you have to do is take your hand off the bar when u are flipping and people are blown away..

Benny I'm sure the only thing u attack isyour post ride cheeseburger lol I'll stop posting on this websit when u stop using the word bro everytime u post..deal?

Ok, I see where you're coming from.
Give them credit though - a lot of innovation has been coming into the area of aerials. Waveriding, not so much. But is there really anything left to "innovate" in waveriding? I understand it takes a lot of skill to do it and make it look good.
But can it really be improved over what's been done for the past 20 years already? Maybe that's where some of the stagnation is coming from.

I have to agree with Wydopen...

Different directions or not. No one can ride like this...
