Super Jet Someone talk me into porting my cases.....

I talked to art about porting my cases. He told me if would cost a few hundred dollars. He told me it isn't absolutely necessary but it would increase acceleration.

I am really considering having it done. I'm wondering though if it would be better to save that money for my mag pump. Or should I do both? Still kind of fuzzy on what case porting actually does.

Also is it necessary to have the grease zerk that runs to the mid shaft? I thought I read somewhere that it was pretty much useless and could be removed and the line could be plugged.

Screw the zerk and port your cases.

To get maximum bang for your buck do the whole package.
Your builder did a ton of research on what works and what doesn't so why second guess his knowledge ?

Did that do it for you ?

I forgot!
i did it to my motor myself. it may or may not be a noticable mod all on its own but it was just another thing that could be done so i did it. any ski that really rips that i have been on has case work done to it in some form or another.

I think your best bet is to have him do the whole package.
Add the pump later. It costs quite a bit more than case porting, anyways.

Thanks for the replies. I was pretty sure I was going to have done anyways. I just make sure I wouldn't be wasting my money if it could be used else where.

Consider the the zerk gone. What do you guys use to cap the line?

Unscrew it, go to the local fastener shop and get yourself a stainless zerk fitting/grease nipple of the same size. Screw it in, puff your chest out and walk like a man...

Oh, and Art knows whats up, tell him what you want out of the ski, how much you have to spend, and away you go.

I'm going to have Art build me a 771 bigbore. Ill be running dual 44 mm blackjacks, a mod b chamber, epic ignition. I'm not sure what the compression will be.... probably around 200 psi. I told him I want to run 100 LL.

Oh and a mag pump if I can make it happen.

That'll be pretty close to my setup. Almost identical, save for ignition and carbs.
You'll be veddy, veddy, happy.
