Somthing Like Bondo

I want somthing that i can use to smooth small imperfections as a finish before painting and smooth over the edges of the layers of fiberglass.

Im pretty sure bondo is not an option, what can i thicken my epoxy with that will work similar to bondo and make it thick enough not to run?

I have used the 407 and it works good u just have to use a bunch of it to thicken it enough not to run.

I havnt used cabosil before.
How does it work i know a lot of people use it.

I can try the 407 again an just thicken it really good.

Thicken it like peanut butter. If you are fairing an already cured area make sure to prep it right and wet it out with a tiny bit of epoxy first. You can let that epoxy tack up and the fairing filler will really stick and not run on it.

TOBY is that stuff ok for marine apps
i only read through quick, i saw the hardener is polyester based, the info did say can be used on SMC

what is different between that and bondo?

Ive been using microballons mixed with epoxy resin. I think cabasoil would be tough to sand.

Yeah cabasoil is pita to sand. I used a fairing compound from us composites. I liked it cuz it was red in color after u sanded it u could c the spots where u sanded really well that were low spots

West System 410 worked great for me. I bought the large container and I didn't use much of it.. I seen others recommend cabosil but that stuff doesnt spread as well or sand as easily as the 410. You mix the 410 until you get peanut butter, the more filler you put in the easier it will sand, but I think it takes longer to cure. For me to get a good sandable cure in 50 F it took nearly 24 hours.

There is filler that is much easier to work with, but is usually polyester based like bondo. Problem with that is, it wont bond well with epoxy lay ups or SMC. The products I talk of is stocked in West Marine and I have never personally used it. I do have a tube like it called "Icing" that is supposed to be for marine use and the stuff is great.. I never tried on any boat/pwc though.
