I went to Granada today for my first time. Definitely a shorter drive than going all the way to Fiesta Island. However, it is a killer workout. Felt a bit like American Gladiator to this old man.
Haul ski to water.
Launch, then run the tote back up the beach and get back before a rogue wave swamps the ski.
Ride for an hour and a half until fuel gets low. Although there is a sea break, there is still some swell and chop to deal with, so riding is tiring.
Now the fun part: get the ski back on the tote!! I was flailing for a while, but luckily someone from the dog beach decided to help out. There were no other jet ski riders out. They must all have gotten sucked into Mothers Day shenanigans or something.
Then, pull the ski up out of the sand back onto the pavement, and back to the truck.
Whooo! I'm glad I went and will do it again, but there are definitely some reasons to consider the long drive down to San Diego. Hopefully my next time to Granada there will be other riders out there.
