How many have ground down a perfectly good 12mm open end wrench to tighten the upper/inner two screws to install a Factory B-pipe manifold?

How many have cut a 12mm open end wrench in half to remove/install dual carbs in order to get more than an 1/8 of a turn at a time?

I've done these things. Wondering what other creative tools are out there!

I made the mistake of cutting/bending a couple of my good wrenches because that's all I had at the time. I found it almost as expensive to replace that single wrench than buying a whole new set. Last time they were on sale I picked up lots of extras.

I also picked up a set of the stubby combo wrenches, the stubby 12mm works awesome on the middle carb studs, just too bad the gear wrenches don't fit.

why do you need to grind down a socket for the inner bolts on the favtory pipe mani? Just use a wrench and it works fine?
Usually, I've done two, Those two bolts (upper and inner) on the FP manifold won't accommodate a normal wrench of any kind.

Believe me...."dude! we can fix it! My dad's a T.V. repairman, he's got this awesome set of tools!"

I got Jen to do ALL the grinding on my 12mm FPP wrench back when we were first dating....
just dont grind it too thin otherwise the jaws will flex when it starts to get tight...

stubby 10 and 12 are a must as well for certain intake manifolds....

flywheel cover tool...

tool for removing drive coupler off short shaft..

small screwdriver with the end bent 90' to adjust carb screws

I actually found a 12mm open end wrench from a really really cheap tool set that I think I got as a crappy Christmas gift from someone years ago and it fit with no grinding......It lives in my ski tool kit now.

I was going to grab a set of the crowfoot wrenches and try them out on the Carbs studs, anybody try them in that scenario? Use them with a long extension so your knuckles are clear of the bind...

Well I wasn't too happy with my screw driver battery strap tool and ended up buying one. You can make one out of a piece of 3/16" steel rod if you like. It needs to be pretty long, a lot longer than the old screw driver I was using as my tool. I think it was a Craftsman about 12" long. Teh tool is about 15-18" long with a small bend at one end. I can take a picture of mien if you like, the professioanl tool that is. I would grind the tip with a dremel cut off tool. It is a little half round cut out. once you get used ot using one, you will never go back.

its a cutup flywheel cover that allows you to run the motor and have access to the fly/stator/bendix

you can use it to check for spark or timing

Here's another special tool.....works great in most situations
just have to keep it pointed North! :bump:

I use a skidoo exhaust spring push/pull T-handle on tank and battery straps.

Here's a few of the other tools I find make some big jobs go very smoothly.

1) AC Clutch tool, same pattern for 3 bolt flywheel puller, Best thing I've found for holding the flywheel to date,
2) Phneumatic Jigsaw,
3) Exhaust spring push/pull tool,
3) Rigid seeSnake Flexible scope.
