Speedwerx dry pipe timing

Anyone know if your supposed to advance the timing at all on a Speedwerx dry pipe for a SJ? My ski is ported with a MSD enhancer, and a Jetnetics aluminu charging flywheel.

That pipe performs well on stock timing, but advance is always better. Be careful - this is a drypipe, and that fact, together with too much timing can very quickly deto your pistons to hell.

It depends if you are using a programmable cdi or not. If you mechanically adjust your timing, you'll be rebuilding in no time because you are upping the entire curve.

If you can plot your own curve, I'd start off at around 35 degrees, and drop it off at about 4k to 17 degrees or less. If your pistons look ok and everything checks out, try going up to 37/38 degrees. This is something you have to play with to get right, just be careful! Always make sure you drop the tming off to a safe level above 4.5k.

been that route, the race pipe makes some killer power, but it comes with a price, you really need to run a programmable ignition where you can control the retard of the timing at upper RPM's or run race gas....... regardless, keep your timing at stock.........

Hey if the man wants to try it,why not. If wax goes all the way to 37 or 38 I don't think you can get that much even if you fully advanced the plate.

That is the reason that static advance is just fine if you don't go near the upper RPM range. But you MUST have throttle control. Plus the dry pipe over heats the front cylinder on the SJ's You really must be careful and staggering your jetting would be a wise decision also with that pipe.
