square nose dilemma..... to do or not to do

I'm new to the freestyle/free ride riding. About 6 months ago I bought a nice 95 square nose b-pipe/ ada head/ 9/15 hooker prop/46 mm carb /205 and 201 intake /500gpm bilge etc. The ski runs great never misses a beat and is very clean. I'm really enjoying the super jet my last ski was a 550 in 1988.To the point....I want to put foot holds on this boat and really start trying some stuff. I local freestyle guy said "whats the point.... it's a square nose" I do realize every additional dollar i put in to this boat is unrecoverable ,but still is there that much difference in the round hulls and the squares.Or is it that your limited on the mods that are offered. So you see the question is do you build on the square or sell and start building a round. I don't see myself with a carbon hull and a blowen out stroker ,but everyone likes proformance. Thanks for your input.

If you are going to go for a full aftermarket hull than get a RN style one.
I don't see a point in paying all the extra cash for just a different looking nose that the stock RN offers.

Spend your cash on a killer driveline and mods that will make your day of riding more fun. Mod the stock hood, stick a RN pole on it, get the footholds, pimp out the tray and you still won't spend as much as a stock RN hull.

The RN will take a lot of money (lowered hood and nose piece, lowered pole bracket,.....) just to make it behave like a square so why bother ?

Rock that square hard and proud, :headbang:
be a better rider than the guy who told you not to waste your time on the square and he might offer you good money for the hull.

Hey Boris thank for the input ...You should be a motivational speaker. I forgot to

mention I have a ac pole /quick steer/LPW cut down the fly wheel and bored the nozzle.

Foot holds /a shorter stering plate and hood straps should be next ....Am I thinking right ?

you have a great setup , do the mods you want to do and just ride , their was a lot of sn's at daytona that were doing amazing things, squarenose jet skis are great after riding many rns i will keep my sn , have fun

Footholds, hood straps yes.
Shorter turn plate, if you need it than go for it.

Mod your hood while you are doing the footholds, reduces the amount of water that gets into the bilge and you can save quite a few pounds.

Spend the rest of your RN budget on fuel and have a blast.

I have had both a SN and a RN. My RN was currently wrecked and being rebuilt and just had a guy sell me my 2nd SN thats been sitting in his yard for years. I got it for $100! Now thats being rebuilt at the same time! I am putting footholds, prop, intake grate, and plate on it for now and plan on rockin it all summer! I'll probably do some engine mods during the winter. Both skis will be ready next week and i plan on riding both with pride! Rock that SN, it's just as exciting as a RN!

I assume you are talking about the hood liner modification. It makes since if you are

already glassing. Foot holds ....so many to choose from I understand it boils down to

Preference. I have a avg foot size 9 wide. I want comfort ,but also one that does not

take 10 days ,3 MIT grads and a case of scotch to install . Any suggestions ?

I have a round nose and a lowered hood/bracket and nose piece. I spend thousands of dollars to make my RN have smooth lines like the square. I would keep the square and mod the hell out of it.

If you sell that hull to buy a RN you will be going backwards. One day you will want a lowered hood and nose piece to make it look smooth like the square you got rid of.

dude mod that sucker, if you ever get tired of the topdeck just buy the conversion topdeck. I forget who makes it but it was like $1100 and i think it was lighter than OEM.

this is being way overtalked....he's already got virtually EVERYTHING for a f/s setup minus holds

to the OP:

get yourself a set of basic holds (REV's are about the most advanced install, everything is about the same) and do the turf as well.....

you may not be able to recover every dollar, but you have your handsful with that ski and nowhere for foot retention

add holds, turf and ride!

I just also picked up a square nose, after picking up A round nose a week earlier. I have yet to ride either... But Im excited to have the best of both worlds :?: I think im going to keep the square and the round. Since i only have 1200 into both, it makes for a lot of room for mod's... Although my ski's came with a few mods. My square as an A/C pole too....
