Stand up motorcycle help??

LOL I think it will be a fully clothed grass only kind of ride until I get the hang of it.

I need a donor scooter and I can start the build up. I knocked on a guys door the other day that had one with grass growing all around it laying in the back yard and about got ate by a dog before I could get back in the truck. So that pile of schit is out of the question, since no one was home...

Heres what I think, not that it matters, but hey.

Sink two skinny bike tires into the sides of the tray and put them both on a solid axle. Then where the pump assembly is now, have the chain running around a gear on the axle up to the engine w/ a centrifugal clutch. A 10 horse horizontal shaft engine would put you at over 40mph.

And then just one wheel sunk up front would be sick.

YOu could still wheelie down curbs if the wheels were far enough back too.

I think w/o a fixed pole it would be impossible to ride 2 wheeled, so go with a trike.

I will have to cut down the steering cable and mount it on a lever arm coming off of the front tire. Sort of like hooking it to one side of the handle bar and pushing or pulling it. I was planning on using the whole front section and glassing or bolting it to the inside of the hull.

I am thinking that you will need a much stronger cable for that, while the stock cables look strong inside there is only a small wire, you will need something much heaver to work the steering with, maybe a morse cable off of a boat would work.Keep that scooter idea in mind also I think that would be the easiest way out.

I found a guy that builds .. well lets say strange things. He is the one that built the lazyboy recliner that has a motor and wheels one it. He takes it to Hucks to get coffee and a paper.... He was on good morning america with it. Anyhow he has a few weird contraptions in his back yard. He has a 50 MPH 24 volt electric recumbent trike ... just tons of cool stuff... and the good things he lives about 15 minutes from me and has a full machine shop.

Anyhow he bought 40 of those 24 volt electric scooters for parts. Like the one below. He gave me a few scooters to cut apart and built the suspension and setup a rolling chassis on the ski then we are going to use a couple of the electric motors and 48 volts to make it electric at first if it doesn't work I won't be out any money buying a motor.

Things are looking up.

You really need to buy a motor for your ski don't you?
I think you are going bonkerssssssssss

Gotta have something to work on. I have a feeling that I am never going to see my motor again. Goose is still waiting on his cylinder for like 3 years now. The states attorney might find it but I can't seem to get anywhere.

I remember when I first got into Jet Skis... there was a pic of what you are talking about building at Havasu!

Ever consider using a belt like a snowmobile? Seems like a doable project. I am sure there are pics somewhere.

Have you guys ever seen the Red Bull Flu Tag advertised? I always wanted to build what you are talking about but make it so it runs on both land and water! Ride it off the ramp, then around in the water once you land. That would be sweet!

I forgot!
i wanted to do it with a snowmobile, cut the hull to fit around the old olymic. i would have to make the handlebars turn like a quad or bike with a shaft and u-joints for the pivot points. lol what a blast! post some pics, fyi 40 mph sounds way too fast on land for this contraption.

It was too dark for pictures but this will be super simple to build so I might have to convert it to rear wheel steer when I get the first one done.

This first attempt will be with no suspension and only electric motors. So maybe with the extra weight of the hull it might get up to 20 or 25... Fingers crossed.

WOW that thing is great. I only got to push it and ride it like a scooter for now... but it is so easy to ride and pretty cool looking to match. I had some pictures taken but will have to have them emailed to me so it might be a few days.

The down fall... the wheels above on the scooter will not hold up to the weight or the turning force of the ski. And the stock ball socket for the turning has a ton of slop. I am ordering heimjoints to make it more responsive.

I rode it about 1/2 a block and the front wheel broke. It is just the perfect height for me to push it with the pole down pick the pole up and jump on. Here is a picture of the broken front wheel...

I am convinced that it will work so now I can invest some money into the project. I am going to stay with 12 inch or under wheels I just need them STRONG. Maybe a moped instead of a scooter.

Any suggestions??
