Super Jet Start stop switch woes

I have been having an issue with my 1990 superjet I am 98% sure is my start stop switch. It will start fine and I can get about 20 mins of ride time in and it will die usually after a nose stab or a hard crash where my bars go under. I assume waters getting in and shorting out the switch. If I let it sit for a few hours and "dry out" it starts fine again. Have any of you ran into this?

You can unhook the black and white wires down by your ebox and that will disable the stop switch. Try that next time it happens and see if it starts.

If you look at the bottom of the housing, there is a hole that lets water out (or in)

The switches are enclosed in their own screw together bodies inside the main SS housing. You may have a issue inside one of them. Have to pull it apart, but be careful, there are little parts that can disappear/fly.

I've had two start stop switches go out on me so far this season. Have you checked to see if the rubber grommet on the bottom side of the switch covering the lanyard pin is cut or taking in water? First time out with my ski, it would run good for a little while, then all of the sudden it'd cut out on me. The intermittent cutting out got more and more frequent until it just stopped working completely. Stopped by a rental shop and picked one up off of a runabout and it worked fine for the rest of the trip. A friend of mine that works on ski's for a living was telling me that the Yamaha start/stops switches are known to go out. I'm thinking about getting a Kawi start/stop and splice it in. He said he never sells his Kawi start/stops because they don't fail like the Yamaha's. I'm not sure if that's your problem or not, but I thought I'd just share my experience. Good luck.

This^ Has anyone done this before? Or used any other switch?

I have dealt with him before he does great work but it took a while. As far as splicing a kawi switch in with my x2 I had to pop apart the switch every couple of weeks and sand the corrosion off of the connectors so my stop button would work. I have another switch at home from a couch I might just check my wires and use that. Buying a new one is a possibility but there kind of pricy.

After digging into it it looks like the spring in the lanyard portion of the switch was garbage so when you put the lanyard in it was still in the off position. We had a cut switch in the pile o parts so we wired that in and covered everything with heat shrink it works for now until I have the cash/ambition to buy a new one.

Thanks for all the replies guys!
