Starter Motor for High CC / Compression Needed

While doing a quick test run prior to going out a few days ago my starter let out a little whiff of white smoke.... and now it won't even turn my EME 1000 motor over. I need some reliability! What brand is recommend for this engine? I know it is a high compression motor, but I estimate I only had about 50-70 starts on it before it was toast. I didn't buy the starter originally, so I don't know what brand it was.

Are the "SBT High Torque" starters good? Is there something better I can get before next Saturday?

Get an OEM Polaris or Kawi starter. Aftermarket stuff has a bad reputation.

Over half of the people I asked said go OEM, so I did. Is there an OEM rebuilld kit?

Probably just order Polaris or Kawi parts. I think all rebuild kits are going to be aftermarket stuff.

JSS sells a kit to replace the front bearings in a oem starter.
