Had the ski out today and it ran great for about 30 minutes then just completely shut off on its own. It was like I hit the stop button or pulled the lanyard. Tried to restart and it cranked but didnt fire. Got towed back in and put it on the trailer. Started it and ran fine for a few seconds then shut itself right off again. Now it wont run for more than a few seconds.

So far I tried the black and white wire start/stop switch trick, checked the carbs, spark plugs and nothing. It seems like it's electrical. Maybe the CDI?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

swapped in a spare CDI and it ran great for about an hour or so then cut out again. swapped in a spare coil and it didnt fix the problem. stator maybe?

Hope someone chimes in. I am having the same situation. Tried to start it this a.m. and it wouldn't (checked for spark and none). Checked the main fuse and fuse was good, stuck it back in the hole and it fired right up. Got to the lake and it ran for a while and BAM! just quit. Played with it for a while and it ran for a couple minutes riding and quit. Now it won't even turn over! I am stumped. Pulled the ebox off and apart and everything is spotless. Pulled the start/stop switch apart and it is spotless. Oh and just had the coil and plug wires tuned up by JSS (great job!!!!). No to hijack but we could be having similar problems. Please help us!!

Check all your wiring for bad or loose grounds and if that doesn't show up anything, run a temp ground from the battery to the ebox.

Probably wouldn't hurt to pop those flywheel covers off and have a look either.

Sounds like a stator issue. Every one I have seen that has been bad will let the ski run until it gets hot, then if you shut it off, nothing. Go to fire it up the next morning and it will fire right up. Eventually it will go bad bad, and not fire at all. Jet Ski Solutions is the bomb with stator rebuilds.

I got a nice stator off of jetmaniac. I installed that and cleaned up all the contacts inside the start/stop switch (the contacts in the start button were all black). The ski ran fine all day yesterday. I also have a brand new start/stop switch coming in the mail. Going to send my old stator to JSS for a rebuild.

I'm having a similar issue but it's with msd total loss. Thought it was carbs at first and then I replaced the coils and it is still doing it. Runs good for the first 10 mins or so and then starts cutting out: it keeps running but barely. And when I pick it up out of the water it runs fine. Put it in and it has spark but seems like it is misfiring. Let it sit for a couple hours and it runs normal again then does the same thing. What do you think... Stator or brian?
