Stay with complete 62T or switch to 62T case and 61X cylinders

I am in the middle of acquiring parts for my square nose build. After I finish this SN build, I want to ride it and get more comfortable with tricks, then buy an aftermarket hull to practice tricks that would otherwise risk the SN hull.

I have 2 things I'm debating on right now.

1. Build this motor for the best result possible and potentially switch it to an aftermarket hull when I get one
2. Just keep it in the SN and get a new motor for the aftermarket hull- I wanted to use a 701 in the aftermarket for reliability and then change if I ever get good enough to need something more powerful

Is it even worth it to change the cylinders to 61x or should I just keep it simple and stick with the complete 62t for now?

Mods to the motor will be factory B-pipe limited, rrp water box, larger exhaust hose into a newer SJ through hull exhaust (I'm doing wide tray and replacing the foam so i might as well change it while I'm in there).

You will get lots of opinions about which cylinder to use.

The RRP SJ waterbox is restrictive in our testing. Make sure to drill extra holes in the baffle to help flow or use a better designed waterbox.

Thank you. I haven't installed the water box yet. Still is being delivered actually. What would be the better one to use or will drilling the holes fix the issue enough?

Also, I hear a lot about your parts on here but never had a chance to order anything yet. I am going to get with you on what foothold options there are for a SN wide tray and hydroturf.

We had to cut some off the inlet and outlet also to get good fitment also. Drilling a bunch of holes with a long bit and it worked better.

This one is not bad.

One thing that is ultra important that few riders even realize. “How do you know if the pump load is correct?” Answer that and 90% of problems will vanish.

Best cylinder upgrade would be a 760 if you find a good deal on one.
Ok I'll look into that. Thanks!

My plan for the pump is to get a solas Mag and bore out the cone like what others have done. I have a 9/15 prop going in it for now and it has a scoped intake grate. Anything else I should look for when trying to get the correct pump load? I was wanting to stay 144 for this ski to keep it simple.

That will probably work well enough. Make sure it can get from idle to full power within a second or so. Any lag indicates too much load.

Me personally I'd stick with whatever you already have. The x cylinder will have slightly more bottom end and a little snappier throttle but will sign off quicker than the t cylinder. The t cylinder has an exhaust port height difference if around 1mm higher port which will in general make a little less bottom end but more power up top. The biggest benefit to the t cylinder is thicker sleeves which allows an extra bore before having to resleeve. And also i believe can take larger big bore sleeves than the x cylinder.
Everything listed above all changes after some good port work too. I personally have a t cylinder in my superfreak that was completely ported along with the cases by lpw.

I think I will just stick with the 62T complete for now until I build something for the AM hull. Thanks for everyone's comments. I'm definitely going to come back to these when I'm ready to build the second motor.
