Steering cable

Can anyone tell me if I'm doing anything wrong with my steering cable. Bought a new SBT cable last season for a ski I was building (stripped hull) so I was putting it back together. The steering cable stripped off the crimp just like in the picture within the first couple of rides. It was the end of the season so I sent it back to SBT and they sent a new one... Got the ski put together this year and now this was my second day riding and it did it again! Am I doing something wrong or are the SBT cables crap? Ski is a 94 square nose and last year I was running stock pole and had it fastened with all of the stops.... This year I converted to a hazard bracket and round nose pole with cold fusion steering...

Any ideas? Should I just buy a genuine yamaha cable or upgrade to something better?

Thanks
Mike

You need to make sure your throw stops at the turn plate stop. Sbt is definitely not as good as oem, but Any cable is going to break if your steering moves more than your cable.

You might also check your local area for a Push N Pull cable place. They will be able to repair it better then new for cheap.

When I ran SBT cables, they'd break every 6 months, like clock work. Never like that though... The inner cable would break at the pushrod on the pump side. Finally switched to the Blowsion cable and have had over a year on it so far...

Had a SBT cable break at same area in less than 60 days...cable was rusted right before pushrod. Oem or better from now on... it's not worth the hassle of changing cheap cables.
