What about if it's the stator causing the no spark are these still pretty easy to change I just met a guy from on here that said he would help me and has a puller I want someting I can work on a bit but don't wanna bite off more than I can chew

If you can get it for less than 1k I would say go for it. You can get a cdi for 50$ and a stator for 100-150. It could also be as easy as the stop switch just needs to be cleaned kr a bad ground. Either way take the whole ski apart and check/rebuild everything so you don't spend the summer wrenching. Also make sure and check compression before you buy it. Anything less than 145/145 and she will need a new top end and who knows what else. ...

when i have purchased things like this i assume ALL electronics are bad where they will cost me say 400/500. This way i can negotiate with the guy and i can calculate my risk. Then if it turns out to be something simple like dirty connections or a cdi etc that doesn't cost much its a win for me. Are you getting a good enough deal that if you had to buy all new electronics it would still be worth it, if so go for it. If not find out how much room on price there is until it makes you comfortable and see how much he will move on price as well. Good luck and hopfully its an easy fix and you get a nice ski out of it all

^ this is good advice. No spark could be CDI, Flywheel(unlikely Flywheel) Pulse coil, Charge Coil, or Ignition Coil. And could be something as easy as the wire harness from the Start stop. So assume its all bad until you prove otherwise. Good Luck.

If you don't mind a bit of diagnosing it could be a good deal. CDI, SS Switch, Stator are all pretty inexpensive, just test components before buying anything so you're not throwing money away! If it is a stator, don't be scared, they are pretty simple to replace.

701 for 1200. Might cost 500 bucks but could be as simple as a S/S switch. I say hit him with 1k cash in person, and have two extra bills in pocket and take it for 1200 if he doesn't budge.

701 singe carb, in not great shape, in the winter, busted nose piece, and doesn't run.... I wouldn't pay anymore than $1k! and thats if it has good even compression. Otherwise let him keep his problem.
