Stock 08 or modded 05??

09 new for $6300. I can't see spending that much on a stock ski. The search continues. There is a really nice well modded 750sxi for "only" $2000. Is a SJ worth more than double cost in the fun factor dept?

I certainly think so. Someone that enjoys the 750sxi handling might disagree.

So the 05 with mods I referenced, what do you think it is worth? Bought new in 07 and only has been ridden about 20x. It's in immaculate shape and does have nice mods. Says all the receipts are 10K and asking $7,000 and is at $6,000. Doesn't "need" to sell but doesn't have time to ride.

6k would be okay - I wouldn't pay more though.
Ultimately you'll have to ask yourself if YOU'd be happy paying 6k for it.

Well of course I am thinking rationally and as a skeptical buyer....05 (going on 6 years old), all salt water use and knowing you never get all the money back from modding a ski/car/boat, etc. I'm thinking $4500 but have a feeling that will not be accepted!

The seller seems to have a pretty set mind on what he wants to get for it.
If it's clean and in great condition, it could be worth six.

Ask yourself how long you'd have to wait for something similar to pop up if you don't get this one.

You know how it goes. No one needs a new ski but I want one. My two skis now are good, fun, reliable but I've got the itch for a newer ski. Might as well give a sweet SJ a shot rather than getting a newer 750sx or an SXR. From what I have read seems that the styles of the SXR and SJ are very different.

A list of mods and pics would really help us help you bro. The type of mods are CRITICAL on a $6k ski.
Must have at this price IMO:
B-pipe
Billet head with removable domes
Good single or dual carbs and manifold (full specs or Riva Powerbomb or comperable)
ported by reputible mech.
MSD enhancer or equivilant CDI
Good prop
Good intake grate Preferably a worx 201
decent ride plate
foot holds
aftermarket hood
lowered pole bracket
minimum of shortened reinforced stock pole or aftermarket -4" pole
Some sort of aftermarket bars and turn plate

It would need all of the above or more to be worth 6K IMO
