The term "bread box" originally came from the box shaped POS chamber on the /400/440/550's, and another thing you can really tell that Yamaha was worried about the exhaust design is that silly OEM exhaust manifold. Looks like a shortened F'ed up Goose pole...:lmao:

:lmao: I hate the manifold! I kept trying to make sense of it but all I can come up with is that maybe some other ski of theirs uses a forward positioned pipe and that mani doubles as a dual position design. If not, what the heck is the point to bolting it together? lol.

Anyone ever use a B-pipe manifold or similar to put a SXR chamber on a superjet? Or any other kawi chamber for that matter.

In a manner of speaking, that is essentially what the cheater pipe set-up is. I don't know if an actual Factory Pipe manifold is the same basic design as the Coffman mani but if it is, then the cheater pipe would work out. I have a Coffman manifold with a Kawi 650sx pipe which I also modified and will be using with my SJ. I can't wait to get that project under way too, I love the way my modded 650sx pipe performs.

FPP B-pipe is the same head pipe for the Kawi as it is for the SJ. The Kawi pipe bolts up to any kawi manifold, just at different angles (hence the reason the X2 guys use the westcoast manifold over the FPP manifold). All of the aftermarket Kawi 650 pipes, and the stock 650 pipes use the same bolt pattern. I am not positive but I am pretty sure the SXR is the same pattern (The 750 models use a 4-bolt pattern on the stock pipe)

It would be cool if a manifold let you run the 800 kawi pipe on the 701 motor. I'm not saying it would be great, but a $200 cheater pipe upgrade would be a nice option for some who can't afford a $800 b-pipe designed to break.

that bread box jetpower pipe I am told is not actually bad and makes pretty good power .. a HUGE improvement on the pipe kawi used to have on a stock 440 ..

Ya, and then you could improve that with the half pipe "climax" kit...lol

I once built a poor mans b pipe on a FX-1 using a Coffmans manifold and the 650SX head pipe/chamber. Worked well!
