stock hood mods??

ok i got a 06 sj and im looking to take some weight out of the hood and put some hand holds in, and tips tricks or pics??

reducing the weight will be hard, but a good mod is to block off the front intake hole and drill a new one on the back of the hood, in the same spot as the other back one but on the left.

^^^^ Like he said, block of the front three holes... There are alreay 2 breather holes on the back, but you'll want to open them up a little.

I found them at West Marine. They're attached w/5200. Still flows plenty of air too.

I did the same except I cut some PVC to make a shroud and left the original drains as well so water could come out and air could still get in. At least that is my theory.

Heres a few pics of my stock hood chop. Havent actualy finished it but you get the idea if you want to go a little further by adding airvents at the back. I never weighed it but it felt real light in last few pics but still required internal reinforcment and hood liner, i recon it'll be close to stock weight when done.
