i dont know what the big deal is about sliding. i wrote you my best disciption. i can slide mine just fine.fast or slow. surf... i cannot honestly give an opinion. as for being worse then pre 08. i dont see how. some everything same weight (for the most part) same size. better handling and set back pump. besides if you are really slide happy hack the ride plate off

barwani,
Where do you live? You need to find someone who has an 08 and ride it. That is the only way you are going to get a true feel for the boat. My buddy has ridden maybe an hour and a half total on stand up. On my hopped up square with tubbies he could just about turn around in the full width of the river without falling. On the 08 he was dragging his ass on the water.

the 08 has higher compression stock too (170lbs). I'm not sure why it's listed with the same hp, it has to have more than previously.

Are you sure about that?
The manual/tech specs list the same compression ratio as before, and the gas recommendation is still 87 octane.

Its like comparing an SXI to an SXR, but where the SXR is heavier, more stable, and slower the new SJ feels lighter, is more nimble, and is faster.

1. An SXR is WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY faster than an SXI.

2. The new Superjet is NOT lighter and is less Nimble (more stable) and the only thing making it faster is the impeller.

Where do you get your info from?? :nono:

IMO the 08 is NOT a good boat for a first time learner, first time freestyler/freerider..

the whole steering cable/throw issue is absolutly retarded. You honestly expect a beginner who wants to get into this sport is ging to take on that project?

Its not a big deal to do, we all know that..but to someone who trucks home a brand new ski most likely isnt going to be that keen on tearing out the whole pump section

not to mention adjusting the steering cable which is never easy the first time done..

this was just a good way to use up the old fx1 inventory

if the hull was such a great design then Ross C's world tour boat wouldnt have tubbies on top of the factory extensions....

yamaha has simply racified the SJ......Im surprised it doesnt come stock with hull extensions

The '08 does not NEEDtubbies III. They work great on it, but it does not need it. Ross has them because he's a Blowsion rider and there's a market there, plus have you seen how steep he cuts back on the wave face??? Insane!!!

I'm not gonna put them on my '08 (which I'll have on May 21st).

I don't want to get in a pissing match but the SXI is about 2 mph faster than an sxr. The new sj is more nimble, its narrower and is not as stable as the old sj and it feels lighter. I know cus I have one in my garage. It's faster for more reasons than just the prop. Bottom line is the 08 kicks ass and everyone who doesn't have one is jealous. :Banane09:

Maybe top end, yes...but an SXI can't touch an SXR in stock form on low or midrange.

I AM jealous of your 08. That new hull design might make me go blue. (I'll probably just get a lighter hull for my ski, though!) Bring it on out to the RockNRide so I can take it for a spin! What is exactly giving it more power than an 07? Isn't the motor identical? (Did they bump the compression a little?)

i dont see where there is such commotion over the 08 steering. the ONLY time i notice it. is if i am trying to come to the front of the dock to sit/park with out hitting the dock. at speed its gone. i understand these are just my observations. it just seems like its just something to complain about. No ski is ever going to be perfect out of the box.. this is why we all have so much fun altering them.
