Stop button not working ?

Hello, 2000 Yamaha Superjet RN Stop button is not working. I opened up Start / Stop assembly, but looks clean and dry. I just put the motor back in ski after replacing motor mounts and other repairs, but did nothing to the electric system. Did not have any problems before repair work. Any thoughts where I should check next? Thanks in advance for any info. Griggsmars

1 check battery voltage.

2 check positive cables

3 check grounds

4 disconnect black and white from SS switch.

I have had the same issue with a waveblaster. Stop button will not work. Unplugged it and shorted out, still no stop. I will be seeing if someone has a good answer.

Hey, thanks for the replies. I found a loose wire at the harness connection, hoping that will fix the problem. Thanks, Griggsmars

I had that problem with a 96sj. it was a bad connection /plug in inside the box.
whenever the green or red button don't work, first disconnect the plug ins at the box and short across on the box side to bypass the switch.
troubleshooting 101.

I agree with Buzzard. Short at the box connections to eliminate the button. You can also test with a multimeter. From there usually it's a loose connection or a bad ground in the box.

take switch apart and clean the metal disc, this will get some build up sometimes.........
