SX/SXi/SXi Pro stop button problem

I am having a problem with my 95 750sxi with the engine not stoping when I push the stop button. I have ohmed the buttton and it is good, I have ran a jumper wire from the stop wire and connected them to together and the engine still wont stop. I replaced the CDI and nothing. Anyone else have any ideas on what is going on?

Check all your grounds and all terminal pins in your harness. I had one pin corrode on my SJ harness and would do the same thing until I replaced it. If you swap out a new start/stop and the problem persists then the problem may be the e-box harness itself.

Im having the same problem with my 1998 SXI PRO..... It seems like when i crab or wiggle the connector that connects the start/stop switch to the harness, it makes connection. I havnt done anything about it yet but i was thinking of just cutting out the connector and replacing it with bullet connectors. Ill try over the weekend and repost my results.

Try running a jumper wire from one of the CDI box mounting bolts (with the paint underneath brushed clean or star washer) to the engine.

I had this issue with my 98 Pro for an entire summer without knowing it because i used a low idle to kill the motor. replacing the 4 pin connector with separate connectors solved the problem.

i didn't use the idle as a work around i had it that way first then my connector went bad. A month later i bumped up the idle and found out that my stop switch didn't work anymore.

its not safe to run with just the idle to kill the motor. If the stop switch isnt working then the lanyard isnt either.
