SXR Stripped carb screw

I've been trying for days to get this screw out of my carb so I can change my jets for a wet pipe, today I got really pissed because even my McMaster JIS Phillips wasn't turning this screw and its so ed now. What do I do now there's no way it's coming out with a screwdriver now

You'd be surprised what an impact driver can pull out. I drill the head off and then use needle nose vice grips to turn it. They are always stuck in the carb body and you can pull the jet cover off when the head is gone. I don't trust myself with a dremel to not hit something else.

I'm not even kidding you.. I did the same thing the other day with that screw! It pisses me off! Mine's not that bad, but it stripped out so easily.

Spring loaded punch works for me most of the time on small screws.

Drill the middle till the head is gone remove the jet cover plate and ull see the threaded part and it will be loose I promise

Never tightenen anything on your ski with an Impact.....
I will use one in reverse tho

i have done this twice.. Tap a red robertson screwdriver gently into it.. those heads are soft.. the square head will seat into the bolt and work great

You need to read the manual. Turn the screw driver slowly while tapping the top of the screw driver with a small hammer. It will come right out.

I think I've seen one of those impact screwdrivers at napa, I'll pick one up so I don't have this problem again.

I tried hammering a torx bit in there, that didn't work lol I'll try to drill it out tomorrow.

Get a small bit of valve lapping compound on the tip of your screwdriver, it will grip the head and the screw will come right out. Give that a go before you try grinding/ drilling.

The $20 impact driver from craftsman has been one of my favorite tools. It always gets those screws out and I've never cracked a carb body...
