I'm interested in how you matched the taper without having a "known correct" part to dial in the angle (or maybe you did?)

I checked off a good crank I had, but when I set the compound I also indicated off the one good spot left of the taper to be sure

Got it, since I've already distracted the thread somewhat, do you have some sort of power feed on your compound? Or just "crank really steady"? Looks like you got pretty nice finish on that taper.

Crank steady, finish with some 400 grit lol. All 3 of the cnc lathes were busy doing real work but that was going to be my preferred method
