Hey guys, MY name is steve. I recently picked up a stunt hull. The ski needs a motor and pump and some odds n ends and it will be ready to go. I have never dealt much with the yamaha stuff so I seek my fellow X-h20'ers expert opinions. My game plan is to buy a couch and rob the engine and pump from that ski. What would be the best set up...the 701 or the 760 setup ? I am completely open to any or all suggestions.
Please help a noob out.
thanks

Definitely go for the 701. I believe there are a few 701's for sale right now on here for around 600 to 1000 bucks. I just got a stunt hull a couple months ago and absolutely love it. The name took such a beaten but I love the way mine rides and it is so flickable and has so much power. If you have any questions, Waternut, Sanoman, McDog, and Chad are the ones you should ask about these hulls. They all built their's right from the ground up.

Lets see some pics of it and who'd you get it from???

I got it from OCjumper. I will get pics up shortly. I will start researching a 701 setup with 62 t cases.

Yea it's a great looking ski. I got everything with it, i got the the pole, carbon pole pad, steering setup and cable, waterbox, 300sx fuel tank, battery box, and an electric bilge pump.....I'm pretty stoked on the purchase and CAN'T WAIT to step up from my 750 sxi to this machine!

and for the pump- you are going to need a SJ drive shaft..
The pump is the same but the shaft is different..
and everyone keeps saying 701.. there are 62T and 61X 701.
Yo need a 62T BOTTOM end with a 61x TOP END.

One of the Fx mafia guys, either Ntsspray, Nuklear6, or Specialfx has taken one out in the surf and said it was bulletproof. The stunts are what you make them.

Yup. Any 701 you find out of a sit down will be 62t cases with 62t cylinder.

They rode yamacrazed's stunt hull that has a ton of work to it. With the right pole/rideplate length and some hull tweeking they work fine in the surf. Like you said " The stunts are what you make them".

Yep. They got a bad rap from the beginning because everyone was expecting a clean hull that they would have to assemble. Those that took the time to make it right had a hull that was awesome. Those that took shortcuts, found the hull less than awesome.

I've ridden my old hull (now Tmart's hull) in the surf a few times. I even darted the back end into the ground jumping too close to shore in the surf. The only things that legitimately broke were the pole mount area and one of the gunwales right in front of the turf line. The pole mount was never a good idea and the mounting hardware was an even worse idea but it lasted a full year before it finally gave out after running almost 10 gallons in the surf in two days. The gunwale was almost certainly from darting the thing into the ground. Even knowing this, I would ride the hull until it breaks or starts cracking. I beat the piss out of that hull and only sold it because I'm making my own hull based on my old one. The next time I took it to the surf, the hull had zero problems.

If you find out that your hull doesn't ride or respond EXACTLY how you want it to, let me know what's wrong. I modified my old hull so much that it looks more like an EME hull than a stunt. Anything can be done with patience and know how...

This is all very good news to hear :veryhappy: ! I've only ridden flatwater/ lakes and i REALLY wanted to give surf a shot this season, and to hear this hull has done it before without too much issue is Great news !!! Since WATERNUT had some issues with his pole setup , I got a few pics of my pole set up and would like to get your guys opinions. when OCJUMPER set up the pole he used a bracket on top of the ski that conforms with the curves of the hull. On the bottom (inside the hull) he has another bracket used as a squish bracket with fiberglass built up underneath it. He has used 8 thru bolts on the bracket. This looks like a good setup, and it looks plenty strong to me, But I would like to hear your thoughts!
