I heard that show bombed and they sent people home. I was supposed to go 2 winters ago and backed out. Just make sure you are taken care of. I cancelled because of the lack of jet ski riding and some of the stunts involved werent my thing, I was also signed up for an 8 month tour, 2 rehersal and 6 show.

I kept some of the documents sent to me, heres a brief description I believe its the same show, kind of like waterworld.

THE SHOW
The story takes place in an inland lagoon on the Islad Sierra. In the year 2042, a militarized mining operation run by the evil General Kane, has made the islanders into slaves, and is poisoning the workers.
The Sierran Resistance forces, led by AJ and her brother Kid have been gaining strength, but are missing the one key element to victory. That’s where Connor McCabe comes in.
McCabe is an outlaw, a thief and a cheater at cards, but he has a conscience. When he intervenes in a fight on behalf of AJ and Kid, a battle begins that will change life on their Island forever.

The show will run approx. 28 minutes per performance. Here is a partial list of stunts you’ll be performing and the effects you will be reacting to:

 Collapsing balcony with falling soldier (28’ fall to water)
 Runaway Mine Cart w/explosion and flip to padded barge
 Breakaway ladder through rooftop to fallpad
 High fall
 2 full body burns
 High fall to water from moving cable car
 Jump Boat through building w/pyro, debris
 Wrist rappel
 Slide for life
 Exploding shack (with a soldier inside)
 Lots and lots of fighting and vehicle work (Standup/sit down jet skis, Yamaha Rhino, Honda ATV, jump boat, hovercraft)

sounds dangerous.. there is a 10 year old in my neighborhood that would be perfect...he is frikkin crazy.. He is like a mini Travis Pastrana.

Look at you with your big boy pants on You been practicing? Who are you working with?

whats up brotha, How have things been Jeremy? I have not been practicing too much. :chairfall: :theyareontome: When I got back most of my time was spent diving and going to school, and you know that school thing is tough for me. :aargh4: Also my dad got rid of the suv for a car and I was beat for a hitch for the trailer. Excuses Excuses Excuses.....:chairfall: But at least I'll be getting alot of riding in this next 13 months. I'm not sure who I'm working with, hopefully its someone with some skills to teach me. :purr: They know exactly what I can do(the money aint so great), and I cant wait for a full year of practice! When I get back I'm going to have to get me a ski with some juice! The show does have some other stunt type stuff invloved but I'v been doing some reading.....:deal:, and thats somthing I'm also very interested in. I've been told theres dirtbike jumping ramp to ramp as well. Well, I'm more than excited about this opportunity :thewave: and it all started at the X, theres some great info around this joint!

Ya it sounds all great until you start planning then 8 months in China is loooong, I was missing college, and I just didnt trust the set up if I got hurt (3 dislocated shoulders the previous year. I had sent in my sizes wetsuit orders and everything. The jet ski riding is basically swerving to dodge bullets, a ramp jump or two, and a jump through fire is what I was told. I dont really know how much if any fun freestyle practice can be done.

this is good if you don't have a JOB and want to travel for free.....Im think very hard about it....the dude i talked to was cool and has been doing it for a while....But he said its like 15min of riding and 40min of other stunts....$75-$175 a day $175 for the pro stuntmen...If i didn't have it made here Id be all over it....Good thread for sure....:bananalama:

Heyy all...

Iv been in Guangzhou performing in this show "Danger Island" for about 8 months now and have been with mirage for some time before. Andrew just flew in and i just met him today.

The show has been open for over a year now and is running strong. We just started what they call "phase 2" which involved many really cool changes to the show...chinese kung fu fighters, and some dirtbike kicker ramps and many other choreograph changes.

The jet skiing is far from what i would call freestyle. We use showroom stock ski's and are in a pool, and actually only because of how insanly choppy the pool gets I do think stock SXR's would be better. Because of the size of pool, the chop from all the boats and skis riding through and the stock ski's it can be quite difficult to even make it over the ramp at times. There are two ski ramps, one of which blows up for a fireburn. Tricks consist of sprays and logrolls. There are many things going on in the show at any one time, such as explosions, fires, various vehicles and fights, so that mixed with rough water conditions, and close proximitys requires someone who is extremely aware of their surroundings and can make good judgements for when things go wrong. You dont need to be a pro freestyler, but need to be comfortable riding under those conditions. Being comfortable pulling a sky skier behind a Kaw. 15F under these conditions is a major plus as well.

Aside from jet skiing, EVERY roll consist of various other stunt and acting elements. Even the main jet ski rolls are only on a jet ski for about 5 minutes of a 30 minute show. The stunts listed above by DaUpJetSkier pretty much explain everything. With the staff we have here, all stunts are performed and taught safley and are a lot of fun to learn and perform. I did not know any stunts before i came out here.

The show is really a ton of fun. Everyone on cast comes from there own specialties, including high divers, kung fu, major motion stunt work, dirtbikes ect. So the learning opportunities are endless. And your in china, so theres never really a dull moment, always new things to explore and see. The contracts here are normally long term 6 months to a year. So its definatly a complete commitment so you should be sure your ready to leave the country for at least that amount of time.

Mirage has other shows comming up in china they are casting for, which im sure will be just as fun as this one. This is not my first show with Mirage, and they have been an awsome company to work for. But as with every contract you sign with anyone, make sure you read the entire thing and understand every bit, ask questions about anything you are unsure of.

Its a great opportunity, easy to save money, and a lot of fun.

Feel free to message me with any questions you have.
