For me it helps to drag my left leg behind (sort of like rudder) the ski when I am under water. It is also cool to do a hard turn once you're under and exit from the water at more or less the same spot as you went in.

I did an accidental sub in the surf, came over a breaking wave sideways to some weird rip current wave(only way i can explain it) ski nosed into it and went down down down, so I crouched down and rode it out. Pretty cool, but my buddy said from the look of my face he could tell it wasnt on purpose.
I got the subs down now that i have a bilge and intake hoses. a little big of speed, both feet towards back of tray pressed up against the sides of the tray, let it do the natural hop then on the second one lift on tray, push the nose down, collapse to crouching position and pin it. I usually come out doing a pump stand since my power is limited on my 650 SN. Many time I came in way to inverted and didnt crouch and went over the handle bars, thats why my chin pad is held on with duct tape.

I wouls still wear a helmet. when doing these for the first time you may go in to shallow sending a wall of water up the nose and hood straight to your face. OR you can go to deep and go over the bars have your eyelids peel open lol...

I can attest first hand. I'm landed a few subs now but during practice I've had a blast of water in the face twice now that feels like someone punched me!

nailed my face on the handle pole putting my 2 front teeth through my lip when i did a sub too fast in shallow water with no helmet. will no be wearing a helmet when i do them..

When I sub I don't hop. I let off the throttle just a little to dig in the pump then pin it. As soon as the pump leaves the water I throw all my weight forward then push the pole as hard as I can. I know right away if I did it correctly or not because for a split second before I squat back and lower my head it feels like the worlds gonna end!

Loads of fun to mess with subs. It's always a crowd pleaser too. About 50 percent of the time I get my hole body and boat completely under now

Snapped my handle pole in half trying to Sub. Skis been down for 3 weeks now. Good news is aluminum wont break, so back to trying to figure out this Sub thing you guys do. Oh and added the bilge pump so no sinking once I do figure it out.

Thanks guys for all the tips on this thread. thanks to you guys i finally managed to get the hang of subs last weekend. Now my question is, how important is a pole limiting strap? Do you ride with one on all the time or do you just put it on when you decide you want to do some subs? thanks again.
