suddnely not liking restarts

I pull mine off all the time to get the gas tank filled to the very top with fuel. On occasion I have forgot to put the vent back on and took off riding. The gas spewing out of the tank and into the hull (maybe into the carbs?) most certainly made it run like crap.

you are overfilling your tank if you have to remove the oneway just top top it off.. Likely to cause fuel pressure spikes in the return line resulting in creased internal check valves ..

Never had a problem. We run a long ways to the surf, about 6 miles through the inlet. Every guy in my ride crew does it the same way. Fire it up and WOT to the surf after filling up. It drinks plenty of gas quick. My jetting has always been spot on after setting a motor up the first time.

not sure if I've seen it in a SJ manual, but I know must Yamaha couches don't recommend the practice. If someone in your group runs into flooding issues in the future, check the internal check valves
