Super jet no spark troubleshooting

Today I took my 1995 super jet with the single carb 701 to the lake. It has a pretty new engine but has been having issues starting. It’s been starting okay on land sometimes but giving me issues in water. Today I started it up on the lake and rode it for 20-30 minutes. Fell off a few times and was able to start it again. Drove it back to the beach killed it and then it wouldn’t ever start again. Tried starter fluid, giving the battery extra juice etc. drove it home, decided to test spark and sure enough it’s not getting any. Looked it up and I tried the black/white wire disconnect from the switch. Didn’t work. So I now think it’s either cool, CDI or stator. Which of those is most likely and can I test any without spending money buying a new one?

Yah. Good chance it may be the CDI. Would first check/replace plugs, plug boot connections to plug wires. Check resistance between boots, think it is supposed to be something like 3.5-4.7 kilo ohms. If out of spec, could be the coil.
Can also open up the ebox and look for wet/corroded/loose connections.
Also should check the fuse in the fuse box (do not need to open ebox to do this)

Check the fuse. Next check the ignition coil. Get yourself a Yamaha 701 maintenance manual. Spend some time reading the manual and getting to know your ski internal components. You will need to buy a voltmeter to test for volts and ohms. A screwdriver that lights up and has a ground wire for testing. Get some electrical wire with clamps on both ends . These three items will be very useful for testing your electrical components. Test your equipment from the battery all the way thru until you find what is not working. Last time my stator did not work . The full battery would drain dead. Tested it and thought it was a coil that malfunction. Later on found out it was the wire from the coils to the Ebox was bad. If I twisted the wire it would work until it bent a certain way and would not work .
Another time my bilge pump cracked apart exposing the electrical components to the water inside my compartment. I believe that wiped out all my electrical components. My fuse was the wrong size. It was to big number on the vaults. It didn't blow the fuse but destroyed all my electrical components.
