Custom/Hybrid Superfreak/ Aftermarket Tray Drains

What is everyone using for drains in their trays? I've seen some guys running versiplugs, but on the superfreak there isn't enough room under the exhaust. Has anyone had good luck with anything else? I'd like to put something in there that is self bailing. I've heard of people using RC Boat drains, but with mixed reviews. Any ideas or thoughts appreciated.

If I can't seal up my leaks this winter in my Freak I'm going to use the RC boat drains. Unless you're taking on gallons they should work fine.
 
Drain it into the pump housing rather than out the back. Wont be ideal, but I have seen it on a few other boats.

That's not a terrible idea, thanks man. My tray doesn't really leak but I'm getting ready to put threaded inserts in for plugs rather than just screws in the carbon and wanted to see if anyone had other ideas.

No way brother. I'm just going to pump the tray full of water and find the leaks and seal them from the outside.

I think you will be disappointed. Most of the time the tubes are what is leaking. No way to fix them without cutting the tray. If you do want to pressure test I suggest limiting your compressor to about 5lbs and brushing soapy water around.

I'm not sure brightE will have that issue. I'm pretty sure he wrapped his cooling lines in fiberglass before he ran them through the carbon. @BrightE's

I can only hope it's not. I did wrap all my aluminum in glass to be safe! That or found ways to use stainless. I only get maybe a cup or two after a long ride, but it's still something I would always like to reduce.

Hope so too. In my experience the carbon is part of the issue but also the water that sits in the middle chamber. I pull my pump show screw every ride now. All of the pipes are in the center chamber. Most people only drain the sides.

I am one of the guys with drains in my center chamber too, which is nice. I have small drain plugs at the peaks of the pump shoe area. It floods about the same amount of h2o as the side chambers, which amounts to about a cup or two total.

My freak has stainless steel inserts epoxied in to the outer two chambers with a allen bolt and o-ring. Not self-bailing but is solid. I get some water in the tray after a full day of riding, probably a quarter to half cup. My center chambers have drains on each side of the pump but those have been bone dry since I bypassed one of my leaking water lines... It's only a matter of time until the second cooling line starts leaking.
 
Is this problem just limited to Freaks, or do other AM hull have similar issues?
most AM hulls have an open bulkhead and scuppers/versaplugs out the back, so no sealed cavaties to trap water/air. ( those sink like a stone) that is/was one good thing about the freak hulls. WHEN the hood blows off and it sinks, you have time before those supposedly sealed cavaties fill up and it really sinks. can give you enough time to get towed in. when me and Danor took my old yellow freak to the clinic for BOBholds and repairs, water could be heard splashing around in there somewhere, even tho not a drop was in the engine compartment or coming out the rear drain holes. i dont know what the clinic did, if anything, but that was an issue Danor didnt like. i laugh whenever somebody complains about a waterlogged hull. when i was done for the day 2 gallons would come out when i pulled the drains. never noticed the extra weight when i flipped n rolled the crap out of it.
