I cut my plush padding flush across the back - 90 deg. angle. Then wrapped the turf from the horizontal surface (tray), down the back of the plush pad and ending at the bottom. Then cut it off flush with the bottom of the back (pump mounting surface). But as mentioned by Crab, you can continue to wrap it underneath if you wish. I've had no troubles with it coming loose - has not lifted at all.

I agree that the black underpad is a total biotch to work with. You can cut it easy enought, but sanding....! But it is soooo worth it.
When I put turf on the rails I cut it flush to the edge, trying to follow the angle of the edge. Use a new blade, pre-heat it with your heat gun. I finnish off by using my Dremel and a dull sander disc, shaping the edge nice and round. Just my 2 cents...

so you weld wood the cushion to the tray and weld wood the turf straight to the underlay... got it...and on th back you are cutting the underlay at a 90 degree angle and when you are glueing on the turf, how tight are you pulling theturf down? I know i may seem like an idiot, i just have never done it or seen it done before and really dont want to screw this up... lol

do not cut the turfed rails at 90 degrees, it will lift, cut it at about 45 degrees or more then sand it w/ 80grit paper and it will never come off. when you cut it a 90 degrees you are just making a blunt end for the water to hit, 45 degree angle wil allow the water to flow by much easier...

SORRY FOR THE POST DUMP.. just thought looking at some other turf jobs might help you, if was closer ide turf it for you ive turffed 2 freeks. ya its a R hull the tray is so small i made and installed a front hold to make some room in front of the holds.IMAG0702.jpgIMAG0701.jpgIMAG0694.jpg

my package should be here this morning so im at home waiting

i want to be ready so i cut some of the old foam to get an idea on how big it needs to be. and can i use the grey foam on top of the hold?

does this look about right?

make it a little bigger you can always trim it down puy a piece on top also and glue them together, kinda like a sandwich with a foothold inside.
