Superjet bendix stuck

Location
Ontario
I was out riding and suddenly it stopped starting for me and had a click from the ebox, I assumed it was the relay, but I checked it and it worked fine, I replaced all wires an still nothing, pulled the starter motor and bench tested it, an it all worked out, finally I pulled the flywheel cover to find out the bendix was stuck engaged, and I couldn’t turn the flywheel by hand until I disengaged the bendix from it... anyone have any thoughts? Could a warn flywheel cause this?

more likely that your bendix is seized due to lack of lubrication, or the brass bushing in the flywheel cover is destroyed somehow....do you still have the little spring in place that sits inside that bush ?....how do the teeth look on both the flywheel and the bendix...gnarly damaged or pretty decent all way round?

The Bendx seems to slide smooth and freely, it was a new oem as of last year, I also replaced the bushing in the cover last year, the spring is still there, the flywheel is pretty worn but the bendix seems fine, Also when I disengage the starter motor from the bendix it spins freely but sounds rough, but as soon as there’s load on it starts clicking again

not quick sure I am following u exactly..see below

1. starter motor spins nicely on the bench with 12volts ?....splines look perfect ?....no noticeable play on shaft ? (please confirm)
2. bushing in crankcase half is pretty solid.
3. Bendix feels good..nicely lubed.....rear splines for starter and front splines for flywheel pretty much still all new
4. Flywheel cover still have locating pins to ensure perfect alignment on install and almost new bush in casing and spring in place
5...is washer still also on bendix front shaft ?
6.....flywheel ring gear is worn......thats very odd......these things can last 20 years and show no visible wear...send pic id u can

this click click u mention....is it coming from the starter relay in ebox ...or bendix area ?

1. The starter motor spins, but the spline seems alittle loose,
2. Bushing feels good and tight but not to tight
3bendix feels good and lubed entendres and retracts like it should
4yes it still had the pins
5.washer is still there
6.it is a 97, and it’s just the one side of the gearing that looks warm, and the clicking comes from the relay, but it only happens when the starter is under load, but if I disengage the bendix it spins till it catches the flywheel, I will see if I have pictures
