Super Jet Superjet fuel in hull

Hey all, first post, been lurking all summer - bought my first ski this summer, an 01 superjet with a buncha mods.

After a summer of brutality in the gulf I've developed a crack in the tank. went on bikebandit and ordered a new one, but my problem is going to be the fuel in the hull blistered up the lining and what was a nice clean hull now looks terrible. what's going to be the best process to restore it?

I am imagining pulling pretty much everything out of it, sanding the whole thing down, and re-epoxy-ing it is the "right" way, but I don't have the time to do that between 2 jobs.

any ideas?

Lots of ugly bilges out there so just adjust the price accordingly. The fuel shouldn't affect the SMC bottom so it may have bubbled some paint that was applied to it maybe?.?.?

My other concern would be that the fuel has affected other things like engine mounts. I had a fuel leak in one of my ski's and it softened up the 5200 holding down my bilge pumps and bulkhead caps. I also had 3 engine mounts delaminate with little to no abuse to explain it.

I guess that is true, a bilge is a bilge. what is "SMC"? and is there a standard aftermarket engine mount? mine were delaminated at time of purchase, but still decent enough to run on...

smc= sheet molded composite... that's what the lower hull is made of.. there would be no bubbling done to this material from fuel... but it is possible that someone has already removed everything in the hull and painted the inside, and the paint they used is what is bubbling...

Should be a 15-20 minute process. Pull the battery and battery tray first. Take off the hose clamps on the top and back of the tank and then yank the breather hoses. piece a cake.

Take the hose clamp off the filler neck, pull the hoses out of the top, take off the straps and it comes right out. No need to remove the battery or the tray.

Also make sure you have rubber pieces under the tank, this helps it from rubbing a hole. If it does not you can glue some turf down.
