Im looking for an engine to put into a superjet for flatwater freestyle. I saw a video of a guy with a gp800 engine stuffed under the hood. I think gp 800 has a 771cc if im correct. Is the timing or anything different from a 62t/61x with a 771 big bore? Seems too easy to use a gp800 motor rather then getting the BB, what downfalls would there be. THanks

They do make great power stock. 120ish I think, but they're HEAVy..35lbs more I think
IMO BB 701 stuff is easy. You can keep all your intake/exhaust /electronics.
the gp motor requires special upright kit, pipe, and an ebox from a gp ski..

Still a two cylinder....how can it be much heavier then a 771 bore 62t case? i just see that to be odd. Only reason i asked is cuz i saw a cheaply rebuilt gp800 and electronics for sale and thought it would be great for a superjet. but if its heavier then i guess that would be good for racing or riding fast but not for freestyle

Well its like this, first you need an upright kit, that has to come from Jeff @Waterdawg so good luck with that.
Next the carbs are too low on the motor, so you have to find an intake, cut it in half and install it so you can mount up two more regular carbs instead of the I body carbs it came with. Then there is the exhaust system,, the stock setup won't work, the B pipe doesn't fit , the Power Factor pipe costs an arm and a leg and the Waterdawg pipe was a no show.

By the time you get the complete GP800 engine with electrics and all the conversion products, you will find it would have been way less expensive just to purchase big bore 62T/61X 771cc engine. The GP800 has a 784cc displacement with an 80mm bore with a 78mm stroke and all the engine parts are extremely heavy IMO.

All good stuff guys thanks. Yeah i thought it would be better to do a 62t/61x ported and bored to like a 760 or a BB 771-781. I just want to run on 91 premium octane and have something reliable. Im likeing jet manics top end kits and run the stock dual 38s, or go with a big bore and run the dual 44s. For a first timer to freeestyle (not to jet skis) i think a top end ported and bored to 83mm is pretty good way to get it started
