superjet hood gutting and breathing

i was looking at my hood and looking for ways to save weight so i was thinking if i took the inside liner out and the removed the foam and everything and took like two or three 1 1/2" thru hull fitting and placed them in spots where water wouldnt be so easy to get in and have tubes come from the fittings to the bottom of the hull.

does anybody think this will work or not of could it be modified to be better????

or is there anyways to make the hood lighter and breath better and keep water out??

this might just be one of my random thoughts from sitting in my garage tinkering wait for my motor to get back but i figure its worth a shot.

thanx james

remove the entire liner and make your own. I use cardboard to create a template. then cover the cardboard with duct tape (epoxy doesn't stick to it much). then lay up your cloth over that. once dry remove it, peal back the cardboard and whala... new liner.

wat if i just left the liner out tho????

No good, the liner helps control the water intake and where it is dumped into the hull, without a liner it would fill much faster and likely choke the carbs due to water intrusion. It also adds some structure to the OEM hood.

I have been tossing around the idea of making my own liner on my stock hood, looks like a nice alternative. It seems EVERY ski on the water has a lowered hood, Im still a little partial to how the stocker looks.

if u read my original post tho i talked about using like 1 1/2 thru hull bildge fitting's with tubes on them to control the water and put it in the bottom of the hull and place the fitting in places where little water gets in

your idea for the bilge hoses and fittings is good for water control.

but without the liner the stock hood is VERY flimsy, and wont stay on or seated, well ( allowing more water in) and would crack pretty easily on impacts.
