Super Jet superjet keeps hopping on its own..

hey every one im new to the site and am just figuring it out. but my superjet gets the nose bounce really bad at about 1/2 to full throttle really bad even in glassy water, i rarely get to open it wide open and if i do the hopping just robs all my speed. i looked at ride plates and decided since they cost too much, im just going to extend my ride plate on my own, has anyone had experience doing this? and if so did it help? because as everyone knows this can be extremely annoying and every time a boat with huge wake passes by i cant ever keep up :banghead:

not sure how much riding experience you have, but what WaveDemon said is true. Porpoising is a very common problem when starting out. You've got to purposely work on getting your weight forward. An intake and a ride plate can help for sure...but practice and developing the skill will let you ride anything. Looks like you've also got a squarenose SJ, so you can't do the easy mod of shortening your handlepole...but again, develop the skill on the tough stuff and you'll be much further ahead.

I remember when I was starting out, and when going full speed, I was crouching down low and leaning back. It would hop like mad. After a while, I got over the subconscious fear of leaning forward, and now I lean forward right into that speed. No hopping. :)

thanks everyone for the advice, but even with all my weight shifted forward it does nothing. i took the ride plate in to an aluminum welder and it will be extended to 19 inches long. if it doesnt work out i have another stock rideplate. i will post pics and let you know how it works

i just purchased a 1995 sn 701 and have some porpose problems also, standing with both feet all the way up front will allow it to accelerate much better and run higher speeds without porposing, with one foot back i cannot get my weigh forward enoph to control the porposeing.

just added an R&D slasher ride plate and an R&D intake, helped just a bit, espected more from the parts.

just fixed my tray it had a crack in it, water was filling in thru the crack
