superjet porting

well ive got my cylinders off for new piston and rings and a mild bore on a 96 superjet. how well does a port job work? im comptiplating getting it ported except its not cheap, $300 min. is it worth it? are some companies better than others for porting? who r the good ones, id like to send it somewhere for a bore and port just not sure who. ive had bad luck with port jobs on my mx bikes so im not sure. do i need to change anything on the stock carbs?

Yes some companies can be better than others by a large margin, I have just come across a freestyle ported 760 that developed 84 BHP! thats a good 10 BHP less than a stock 701 with a pipe and head etc and this was by a so called professional.
Have a good read on this Forum you will soon see who has the best reputation for geniune service and remember if you pay peanuts you get a monkey. Just my opinion.

just do it. compared to other performance enhancing mods, i think porting is a good improvement for the price.

Yup, porting is probably the biggest gain you can do.

Make sure you get it ported by someone who does freestyle. You want it ported for low end and most race shops would port for top end gains. Gains on one end may compromise the other.

Wamiltons did some amazing porting for me (he kinda knows freestyle). His work kicked ass just going from non-ported to ported.
My current motor was build by Paul at LPW and I think his porting is good (hard to tell the port since I got a stroked/Lamey all at once). He certainly also know freestyle and is going to make sure you get it ported for the riding you do (assuming you do freestyle...)

If you add Riva, you can put them in multiple categories and Crankworks can go in Miscellaneous. The system has a search function, I'd rather not get into adding a category just for one or two companies otherwise we'd end up with tons of them.

they are all good guys to deal with unlike some others who claim to have sales on porting or discounted.just sounds like they're willing to take shortcuts to save time.
this is one of those you get what you pay for instances.

I had a friend do mine that ports dirt bikes and 4 wheelers. It woke my ski up 100 times in full. I was running stock, then ported it and it felt like i added a pipe. Everything thought i was running one as well. I'm going to have him do alittle steeper on the ports this time on my other built. I have tons of extra cylinders around to switch if i dont like it.

Dont port unless you already have a good pipe and correct prop.
