Has anyone done the conversion of a stock RN pole to SXR. I am trying to get an idea of what would need to be done/purchased to make this conversion happen.

Thanks peeps

I thought about doing it. I even went as far as to buy a stock 97 sj pole and try mocking it up. Your going to need to cut & grind the pole to make the steering cable mount & machine you own bearings spacers. The only reason I didn't finish it was I score a deal on a used AC sj pole. I had already done 1 before. So I already hada extra set of bushing spacers & steering bracket figured out. Just so you know. You will need to grind the handpole bracket ribs out for both poles.

just get a kawi/sj turnplate from blowsion and get a few washers and bolt it right in
and just make sure to notch out the leftside of the top of the pole to mount your steering cable

Can I use the stock sxr steering cable? So I basically need to make the left side of the RN pole look like the right side (as far as cutting the housing and welding in new panels)?

I actually have a blowsion conversion turnplate, will I need the umi bearing system or can I use the stock RN steering setup?

Also, I'm in the market for a RN pole if anyone has one they could part with.

P.S. I really like the way the rn pole looks on a sxr.

Yes, to stock steering cable, yes to steering system. I just got the TBM & it's nice.
It's really not hard to get the pole to work on the sxr. Just take your time.
I really like how the pole gets you in more agressive postion & lowers the steering. Good luck dude

I 1st had to grind out the left side of pole opening. (opposite where the stock sj steering cable bracket would be) Then I cut a 4inch hole in the bottom of pole for access to mount the blowsion steering cable bracket. I had to use a spacer to shim up the difference in height for the bracket becuase the AC pole drops down inside. I think I remember the spacer being a little over a 1 1/4 inchs high.
Remember mounting the steering bracket is important to have full travel each way on the nozzle without having to cut the cable. I'll see if I can dig up some pics on install. Hope this helps guys.

Using a stock RN pole, can I just make the left side similar to the right side (superjet steering cable side) and not have to cut the sxr steering cable, or do I need to mount the steering cable braket further in the pole.... gosh I hope that makes sense.

Thanks Scorn :wavey:

You should be able to get the bushings for the handlepole bracket from Blowsion. I made this conversion a few years ago and really like the handling changes it made. As others have said, you can still use the OEM steering cable. I opened up (ie ground out) the top of the pole for clearance for the steering cable.

You got it right dude.
The bracket needs to mounted alittle over 1inch further in the pole than the sj mount.
I'm always down to help a fellow GREEN rider:biggrin:
Now you better get it done this weekend:shocked: j/k:Banane25:

I'd like to get it done before the Wave Rave.

still looking for a RN pole though in any condition though (almost any condition).

The steering cable seems to be the only real part that needs any fabrication.

I'm sure it will be more clear when I actually get a pole.

Is there a certain bracket that is good to use or should I just have my mechanic fab one up. *cough* Mark44 *cough*

thanks again for everyones advice, and feel free to post any pics if anyone has them,
