im still waiting on my carbon to wrap the bottom sides of the ski, but here are the tubbies installed with an epoxy/cabosil mixture and screws w/ no foam.

i will post pics again when i get the carbon done. The yellow on the rear of each tubbie is the spot on the hull where my old tubbies were mounted.

why did you choose to go without foam?

dont really know. just figured id try it i guess.

i know the foam inside my old tubbies was very wet, but i only used 5200 to put them on. the first time i ran the ski up on the beach i think it pulled some 5200 off.

i would think this time around now that they are epoxied on they should be sealed up real well. so it wouldnt matter if they were foamed or not.

If it leaks you could always pull a screw out and use a funnel to pour some foam in.

Can't wait to see what it's going to look like wrapped in carbon.

i countersunk the screws deep enough that i was able to use filler to cover the screw heads and make the countersink holes flush with the tubbie.

i could probably just paint the whole bottom of the ski but i'm not a very good painter.

Now i need to get my carbon supply to hurry up.

You think i could use fast cure epoxy to put them on so i don't have to use any screws?! I have the stuff from us composites. I also have some milled fiber i can mix with it to thinken it up... I just don't want to have the screws in the side can i don't plan on painting til after this season!

I use some 3:1 epoxy mix with a thickening agent such as cabosil and some white pigment to hide the seams.

I'd still use some screws just for insurance because if you apply it over gel coat it might peal off.

finally got my carbon and wrapped the whole bottom of the hull tonight. i will see how it looks tomorow when i can flip it back over. ill probably just sand a little bit and put a bunch of coats of clear on them.

all i can say is wow... these things do exactly as advertised. i can lay the ski right over and carve as hard as I want. very predictable in every turn.

absolutely no chine walking like my old set. this full length design is much better.

they work great in the surf as well, and keep the nose nice and high.

thanks again chris.

Lemme know when you got another set!!!
You're the next person in line waiting for another set of sponsons and I hope to have some more sets available soon.

let me know about the ride plate i would be in for one prob (i'm more of a freestyle dude but what the heck) is that real carbon fiber whats the benefits and is it hard to do?
I'm not the guy selling the CF ride plates, you might have me confused with someone else.

I have made a few ride plates out of fiberglass and gel coated on both sides but won't be selling them any time soon.

have you test fit these to a blaster hull yet? looking to put a set on one of mine to test with.
Not yet but I'll let you know soon as make some more sponsons.

Do you think sponsons specific for a Blaster-1 would be a big seller?

do these things give any advantage to freestyle riders
Yes they keep the nose of the ski higher and make it more stable which is a good benefit for freestyle.
