SuperJet tray rebuild question

Alright so I'm finally got around to cutting up my tray and defoaming it. Now I ran into my first problem how should I rebuild the tray?

Pour the foam in the empty tray sand it and lay the glass on top?
Or
Make tray bottom outside of the ski then glass it onto the tray and then pour foam?

I was leaning towards the first method but then became concerned that the 2 part foam wouldn't be dense enough.
Also how would I keep Styrofoam from (lack of a better term) float when I pour in the 2 part?

Forgot to mention I ordered 17oz biaxial glass to build the tray and hood liner. Not sure how many layers to use. It will mainly be a flat water ski but I am pretty close to the ocean so it may end up in the surf

I would pour the foam then lay the glass on top of the sanded foam.

If what you're doing is putting styrofoam into the tray and pouring pour foam around it you'll just need to weigh down the styrofoam with something or it will float out like you're thinking. I just did the same recently but with an entire bottom deck. Poured foam in, pushed the styrofoam in right away, put a 2x4 over the foam and then weights on top of the 2x4.

With the foam supporting the glass 4-5 layers of 17oz should be very solid for your tray. I used a roughly 70oz-75oz layup for my hood liner which is quite strong but liner strength is also dependent on design. Superjet hood?

Shape the tray using a combination of sheet foam and pour foam then glass over it. I then sealed the pour foam with a filler first so it doesnt soak up tons of resin and create lots of air bubbles.

Yeah superjet hood. I removed the liner and put 2inch bulkhead fittings in the back I'm going to seal up the front and the top vents.
I have some shop vac hose to use as the airlines
I got the idea off of a post on here I saw about 2 years ago. Finally getting back to putting the square nose on the water.
Got a new 701 with a protec pipe sitting in the garage just itching to go in
