Superjet Virgin

Ok.... last year after reading all about the fun of stand ups I purchased a 650 sx and it was a blast. After reading more post I learned that the superjet could be more fun (definately more parts around). So last week I purchased (found it here) a '90 SN in pieces. It came with a complete 650 and a blown 701. I got it home and immediately starting tearing it apart to see what i needed. Of course i guess i got a little carried away and this is where i am now.

I know the pics are crappy phone pics but what the heck. Today I will begin sanding and buffing. Paint is duplicolor Chrome yellow I found on ebay with a urathane clear.

Onto the fun part - I wanted a 701 so i got a lightly ported 701 from JetManiac (This guy is A #1 and he has provided tons of help and parts!!), lightened flywheel, bpipe with mod chamber. So this weeks parts should arrive and the rebuild begins.

expected this week are the motor, and the rick roy handpole.

stay tuned - more to come

ha! good questions... I gues because I dont know what i want yet. do i want foot straps or holds? as far as the hood goes i am not a fabricator so i thought i would just collect the parts get a good solid ski and then maybe this winter someone will have a nice aftermarket hull on the cheap!! who knows. I just want a good solid base to start with and from what i see on these lists the sky is the limit. besides i was afraid of sinking too much into the hull itself since it seems to be the opinion on the list that the roundnose is the more desirable hull. I do not see any standup riders in my area so I can only learn what is good by this list and trial and error.

does anyone make aftermarket hoods for the SN anymore?

I see.
Like I said, looking good.

You don't need an aftermarket hood to see some nice benefits though. By sealing up the top vent holes and making a new liner you can greatly reduce the amount of water that floods your bilge plus you can shed a ton of weight. All that for just a few $$.
Don't discount the SN hull, they are just as much fun.

Yes flat water riding only for me. I will have to look into the thrust footholds. I figure this ski to be a good base. The paint was a necessity because all of my good toys have to be yellow. I was also waiting on too many hull mods since i see deals on crazy hulls here all the time. I am watching the BoB thread...that ski looks fun (but it needs to be yellow).

Back to sanding, buffing and watching the Bristol action....

if the only hull mod you do is foot holds then DO IT. once you ride with them you wont go without? How far from Missouri are you? there is a group of us in Saint Louis and Southern IL that ride togather.

the rebuild begins

starting on the graphics, then the parts go back on......

cant wait for the ups man this week.
