OK OK let me specify!! I have a 650 sx aka a terd ski (my first stand up). With larger pistons and reed kit. And I dont have the money for a new superjet so. I was thinking if I could find an older round nose hull and fab in the engine I already have, would it be possible? The old square nose was a 650 anyways right? Atleast then the hull would be good for freestyle right!

Ok you have a KAWI rider here on your side, But You way better off to Get a Superjet and use the Yami engine. The 650 kawi engine wouldnt be worth your time.... I would get a square with a yami 650 over a round nose with a 650sx

Keep the Kawi 650 in the Kawi 650 hull. I pretty sure it's lighter than a superjet hull.

Yup, NADA guide shows 1990 650 sx at 282# while the 1990 SN 650 is listed at #287 pounds
That extra 5# makes a world of difference!
The Kawi 650 is a turd compared to the SN :bad3:
Thats coming from a Kawi 750 owner!

Now, if you were wanting to put a Sea Doo 800 or 951 in a RN hull, that might be worth the discussion........

Naw, keep away from the Bombi's, I'm suffering from owning an 800 lol. Gonna cost me 1200+ to rebuild it all because it was manufactured with a crappy crank. I've never seen a crank missing the actual ball bearings inside the assmebled bearing without the cages being trashed. But every bearing on that thing was missing some. So I went back to stand-up. I ran the same ski I just bought recently (92 650SX) and of the 8 years owning it, the only prob was the sparkplug leads backing out of the caps. It even took that full 8 years to finally need a new battery! That lemmon of a yellow Sea-Doo was as bad as my F150 truck for repairs. Every 20 minutes lol. But I must say, it sucks to see a guy getting slammed for asking a question.

The way I look at it...work with what you can afford. If your Kawi hull is in too bad of shape and not worth repairing, then give the idea a try. Yamaha or Kawi...who cares, if there's no engine to power it, they're all garbage. I'd rather have anything running with or without the corresponding engine if it meant I gained another summer on the water instead of being left high and dry.

In my opinion, you would be much better off selling that Kawi engine and saving for a bit to buy a used stock 701, or even a stock 650 Yamaha engine.

dude, sell what ever you have, steal the rest.... find an early square nose with a 650. find a pipe, mill the head, have the exhaust ports widened to match the casting in the cylinder. if you can find a coffman pipe and put the package together, you'll have a rippin a$$ ski for cheap!!! if you look, you can find a cheap 650 square nose!!! ttrrruuuuusssttt me, ditch the 650 kaw idea, cranks are weak, flywheels are heavy, cases dont flow for $hit, and ports are too low. stock 650 kawi's did what? 38mph??? ya ouch!!

i have no idea on a top speed w/ a 650 but i know iv ridden a 750sx and the bottom end on those early 1's is horrible, it made my stock 650 feel fast

I'm keeping my eyes open for a round nose with stock engine! Dont want to sell my 650 sx yet dont want to be without a ski to rip around on.

How come everyone missed the obvious?

Put the 650 engine in a JS550 hull! It will be a real upgrade from the heavier 650sx hull. You will love it!

Conversion ski - that's where it's at.

It's the easiest "conversion" that ever was.
