Chris - If thats what he says it is, and judging by the "Venture" decal on the side, it could be true. There was a company back then making replacement bottoms that glued on to the existing hull, like a skin - you would set your hull down into it and glue it on with silicone or epoxy... instant "mod" hull! They made them for all models of skis at the time including superjets. i think Clayton Jacobson (inventor of the jetski) was involved in this too, or one of his sons raced this type hull????
And I believe the company was called "Venture water works"

Thats all I vaguely remember... anyone correct me if i'm mistaken.

Wish there was more pics, I'd love to see the bottom and the inside.
Wonder if it still takes the SJ motor & pump?

A whole a lot of experimenting went on back in the day (and still does) If you reeeallly want to know, why don't you just call Aaron Davis at Competative Crankshafts and ask him? There number is 714-922-8229

That is correct! Aaren Davis is the son of the owner of PJS from back in the day. He has been around the industry for a long time now and learned from the best. He did/can build anything he desires. He did some electrical work for me "back in the day" when I raced Kawi 750's when he was ADR(Aaren Davis Racing). Clayton Jacobson III(jetski inventors son) used to race back in the day to, so Im sure you are correct.

Speaking of Clayton Jacobson,
Clayton Jacobson III lives down on the Parker strip and Ive gotten to know him as a friend and go down there and launch and party with him a couple times a year. All his Dads Jetski and Seadoo prototypes are in a huge warehouse in Parker somewhere. The fixed steer first model is there, also the one that has a pull start through the hood and connects to the H-pole and you would pull up on the handle pole to pull start it. He says he will take me there sometime if I want. I need to take him up on this. Dont know if he will let me take pics or not though, but would be cooler than hell. Many might not know that he invented the first Seadoo's that first came out in 1967' and 68'.

This is not correct. Back in the day, Aaron Davis was married to Belinda Miller, who was the daughter of Ed Miller, the owner of PJS. They have since divorced. As stated though, he has been around forever and did learn from the best. ADR is still in business and shares residency with Competative Crankshafts which Aaron also owns. They are located in Orange, CA

Venture Waterwerks had nothing to do with PJS to my knowledge, it was an independent manufacturer in the late 90's after PJS had pretty much gone out of business. I have one of the Venture skins on a 550sx hull. It did not use the Yamaha powerplant as one poster previously asked. It was a skin, just as mentioned that glued on your existing hull. It was made so a SJ rideplate and intake grate bolted on, was it a great thing...nope! I guess if you wanted to have a 550 that was roughly 70lbs heavier you where in luck. I used to have the literature and video as well, not sure if it's still in storage or I tossed it. After looking at the pics, it does indeed appear to be a Venture WaterWerks hull. Notice the bondline has two steps, the oem top one, then the bottom which is the actual skin. Again, I may be wrong on the owner. He appeared to be a tall, thin guy that looked like a Woodstock wannabe.
